So, we were supposed to stay overnight at Wanoka Lake, but the weather & mosquitoes made it less than desirable. So, we called last minute to Top o’ The Morn campground and they had a nice pull-thru available for the night. We didn’t even have to unhitch. Stopped in the office to say hi & register, and ended up going back during cocktail hours...
First the good… this campground is very convenient to anything you’d like to do in Chicago. You can also catch the train in Elgin if you choose not to drive into the city. Most of the staff here is very friendly and helpful. We encountered one employee who was not and unfortunately I did not catch his name as my husband mostly dealt with him. ...
Really like this campground, as the sites are large & spaced out well. Lots of campers with boats here.
We were here Sunday, Mon, & Tues, so not very crowded. I imagine it's packed on the weekend.
Golf courses nearby, gas, & groceries too. I'd definitely return.
I drove in to scout campsites on 6/3/24. The lower area was open but right after that, by the toilet, the road was closed to vehicles. Just a heads up if you’re planning to go there soon.
