There are 10 RV sites at Sanford-Yake with electric and water hookups. These RV campsites charge a fee and are available by reservation. All other campsites are FREE and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Dump stations with non-potable water are located near Fritch Fortress and Sanford-Yake campgrounds.

I enjoyed my afternoon and night here. Only a few other campers when I arrived early afternoon on a Tuesday. Filled up quite a bit in the evening. Bathrooms were clean but very rough. Didn’t try the showers but looked iffy.

This lake is a sight to behold! It's so beautiful and tranquil. The campgrounds are well maintained. Some sites with full hook ups and many free sites with covered picnic tables on concrete pads with grills and beautiful views. I love the campground but the restrooms are horrible! This lake is a sight to behold! It's so beautiful and tranquil. The campgrounds are well maintained. Some sites with full hook ups and many free sites with covered picnic tables on concrete pads with grills and beautiful views. I love the campground but the restrooms are horrible! It smells of poop mixed with ashtray and cigarette smoke. I had to hold my breath to be able to use the toilet. The walls and floors of the shower are very nasty. The walls of the shower have solid red mold on them. They have been neglected for a long time and you can tell. There is trash on the floor even though the trash can had plenty of room. You can tell the showers were once nice as there are two benches for handicapped to sit. One next to the water spout and one at the back of the shower, there is also a place for soap to rest and handicapped bars around to keep steady. Too bad no one takes the time and care to clean them. It is a shame really.

Though most campsites are made for big rigs, we took our little 2 door down the gravel road towards the ridge of the lake for the best view and most private stay. Though most campsites are made for big rigs, we took our little 2 door down the gravel road towards the ridge of the lake for the best view and most private stay. Our tent was nestled in a spot between trees that blocked the wind and noise. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Only thing that would make this place better is to be bale to walk barefoot. Beware, lots of pokeys!

Stayed here after visiting Capulin Volcano in New Mexico en route to Washita Battlefield in Cheyenne, OK. Staff was helpful and came up to me after I setup at my site and gave me the pass/permit for the site. My power was unlocked although I did see the combination lock on it. Stayed here after visiting Capulin Volcano in New Mexico en route to Washita Battlefield in Cheyenne, OK.
Staff was helpful and came up to me after I setup at my site and gave me the pass/permit for the site. My power was unlocked although I did see the combination lock on it. The inside loop has power but there are outside camping sites which don't and I can see this place getting loud during busy times. We were here in mid-July and it was hot, but only the inside electric loop was occupied with only a few boats on the lake so we had an unobstructed view of the lake from our site. Like another reviewer said, tons of sandburs in the grass which stuck immediately in my dogs paws so we had to walk her in the rocked area instead (she prefers that anyway).
Lots of side roads that lead to town and around the lake so Apple Maps helps immensely. It's dark and quiet at night and not too many bugs when we were there. It was breezy but not windy like many reviews have stated but I kept my awning retracted anyway just in case. We only stayed one night and we enjoyed our time here. We will likely return although I can't see us passing through this part of Texas ever again!

We came to this place on a whim before heading to Palo Duro. GPS does not take you to right check in location. Keep driving until you reach the boat launch area, there you will find the bait store. We came to this place on a whim before heading to Palo Duro. GPS does not take you to right check in location. Keep driving until you reach the boat launch area, there you will find the bait store. Very friendly people and check in was breeze. Camp ground over looks the lake, it’s a climb if you want go down to the water. Campground was clean and the rv sites have level cement pads. Just about any size rig could fit. Not all the tent sites are level. Rest rooms were mostly clean and have free showers.
It was very windy the 2 days we were there but was very quiet with only 2 other campers.

We booked a site with electric and water. The site sloped towards the road but since we have a 5th wheel getting level was no problem. Bathrooms with showers. First night was great but man the rest of the time the flies were insane. I lost count of how many I killed in 3 days.
The biggest negative to staying here is its far from anything. But I would of loved it a lot more had I brought a fishing pole.

This is a fantastic layover spot if you’re trying to head north out of Texas. 30/50 amp electricity and water at ten pull through rv sites. Dump station is on the way out. Check in at the bait station down the hill at the very end of the road at the boat launch. We had a great view at site 2. The only cons: no shade and lots of sticker... more

Check in at the bait station down the hill at the very end of the road at the boat launch. We had a great view at site 2. The only cons: no shade and lots of stickers in the grass. If you have dogs, they’ll get pricked.

The sites up top are very windy. The washrooms are not dispersed around the campground so finding a site with reasonable access to the toilets is hard to acquire.

Nice view, but incredibly windy. Also, the RV pads are close to the bathroom... I was van camping, so it was a long walk from my site to the bathroom. Did I mention the wind? Omg!
