“Difficult to Stay on Non-Event Nights”

Overall Rating
The county fairgrounds is difficult to figure out and stay at on non-event nights. Camping is not permitting in the main fairgrounds area containing the animal barns and race track. It is only permitted in the "Private Campground" north of the fairgrounds (directly across the street north of North Street by the water tower). On non-event nights (no car race and no fairground events), the campground is limited to 4 campers only per night.
You can try calling the fairgrounds or fairgrounds director (available on the Official Website under the Camping tab) to see if they'll permit you to stay on a non-event night.
The campground itself is beautifully mowed grass and is 99% wide open. Pretty constant road noise from surrounding roads and highways. Free WiFi was available with full strength but we couldn't obtain an IP address on any device.
