I hate to be so naive but I saw pictures of a couple gators, do I have to be concerned if I camp on Rutherford Beach?

What is the max stay time here? Is it 14 days like most other dispersed camping that I see in other states? Thanks!

We made a small campfire on the beach and watched the gorgeous sunset.
If you're looking for a place to boondock right on the beach, it doesn't get much better than this!

We parked between the picnic benches and the dunes. The previous comments about mosquitoes were 100% right. The port-a-potties were clean. There is a dumperster for trash. The beach was clean and there were tons of shells.

Yes ... swarms. We felt like we were in an Egyptians Plague. Around dusk, mosquitoes began their front like attack on our camper. Our camper was specked with black dots as it was LITERALLY covered in moquitoes. We closed every opening and woke up to clouds of mosquitoes. The next day, we had to clean our entire camper from the mosquitoes we killed. Dozens per square foot.
This was in December ... maybe the plague comes and goes?
The small parking lot was full, so we drove onto the beach. Our camper got stuck in the sand. Granted, there was a sign that the sand was loose ... Luckily a friendly neighbor helped us out.
The beach was walkable, but only picturesque if you like looking at oil rigs on the horizon.
Super long access road. No water. No gas stations nearby. In the middle of nowhere, but not the pretty kind.

The place is definitely a favorite for us. We reconnect with the starry sky, the Milky Way only sees on TV screens when we live near a large center. If you like the sound of the waves, the blazing sun is the place for you!
The locals meet on the beach were all very friendly and happy to share the fishing stories as this is really a place to fish.
We were a little tight in reserve of water and it is with regret that we stayed only two nights.

This is a fantastic place to camp. The beaches are beautiful. They’re literally covered in shells. The sunsets are gorgeous. Everyone is kind (at least on the days we stayed at this location) and cell signal is great for verizon and at&t.

Beautiful spot. SO windy the two days I was there. Amazing shell collecting when the tide is low. LOTS of trash comes in with the gulf, though. Walk the beach with a trash bag or 5. Every bit makes a difference. Decent amount of local traffic on 4-wheelers up and down the beach, but didn’t go too late.

Pack in all supplies as it is quite a drive to a store or gas station.

Woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise and it is gorgeous out here. There are about twenty campers here and lots of room. I imagine it would be pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday night with the locals. Considering it’s free you can’t go wrong. There are dumpsters at the entrance and several port-a-podies.

We had a great time on Rutherford beach. Looking at the satellite images we saw they recently put a gravel lot at the entrance of the park. This is where we stayed with our converted bus because we were concerned with getting stuck in the sand. Like others said, I highly suggest walking it first and also be careful of the tides and identify the high tide line before picking a spot. The location was great for fishing, I hooked into a 40" redfish and some catfish. Wish the weather was better!
