“Large Area, Great Views, Some Road And HOV Noise”

Great large area with many spots, some wide open spaces and some with shade. Easy to find, just over the bridge below the dam. The Below the Dam dispersed camping and Russell Creek blend together, they are basically one large dispersed camping area.

We watched them get dropped off, and hundreds roamed back and forth grazing during our stay. Free entertainment! Lots of space, five day limit, pick shade or sun, any size rig. Lower road is river rock, upper area is dirt. 5 bars 4G.

One night stop on our way to the Tetons . Lovely Lovely spot. Just off the forest road but hidden. Little trash that we picked up . Some ATV noise though nothing right next to us. If we had more time would stay longer.

We were on our way from Ketchum, ID to the Tetons and this looked like a great spot to stop for the night to break up the drive. We ended up staying two nights. The fall air made for a cool crisp night but the colors in the mountains were amazing. This area seems to have a fair amount of off road vehicles and dirt bikes so be aware of that. We are close to the Snake river, although we can't see it from our site. We pulled in just prior to dusk and it was getting ready to rain, so we didn't search for the "best" spot and just too the first one we could find (the place was pretty empty in mid September on a Saturday afternoon).
The beauty is awesome, the road noise not bad, and of course the price is perfect. We are getting 2-3 bars of AT&T and able to get 9-10Mbps both up and down on our AT&T router. We planned on just staying one night but decided to make it two, because why not!
The area can accommodate many rigs of almost any size.
NOTE: Our GPS tried to get us here by taking a road across the Palisades dam. Only problem is that road is closed. There is a road that crosses the Snake river right at the Riverside Park Campground just below the dam so shoot for that and then Russell Creek Dispersed Camping is just across the Snake River maybe 1/2 mile.

We came in a little after dark so the dirt road to the first camp site (below the dam?) looked a little rough so we continued up here. This area is clearly used for atving but no one was here. There is a small bathroom facility at the entrance but we didn't see it in the dark but did see it on our way out in the morning. The roads are rocky & bumpy but easy to navigate. Sprint coverage was roaming only. The road that goes past the campground and over the river was closed when we left out (I moved the barricade as it only said closed the oppressors direction). The sign in the barricade said "closed Monday through Friday 7 am- 6 pm."
