We ended up with a huge site on the river across from the water supply and very clean pit toilets. Complete with paved walking paths down to seating areas on the stunning canyon lined Taylor River, this stay is a highlight of our 5 month rv journey. Some cell service is available and Gunnison is only a 20ish minute drive away.

There is a paved walking trail. There are two vaulted toilets, one on each side of the campground. There is no water. I would make a reservation if you come to get the river slots. The price is $30 for the river lots and $28 for the others. We get half price with our Senior Pass. It is well worth it.

Nice place to camp, but second year with no water (both 2019 and 2020 no water). Why doesn't Forest Service does fix the water? $29 per night is a bit steep to charge for campground with no water or hookups. Otherwise, nice place to camp along the river. About 35 minute drive to Crested Butte.

With just 20 sites nestled along the bank of the Taylor River, this campground is small enough that all the sites can hear the soothing sounds of the river at night, especially since traffic on the adjacent road is very limited at night. Sites are very nicely spaced out for privacy, and there is a paved walkway down to the riverfront for the enjoyment of those who are not in the premium riverfront sites. Most riverfront sites are fairly small, but sites #4 and #13 can accommodate larger rigs. Riverfront sites also have heavier tree cover. The sites on the road side of the loop are further from the river, but they are enormous pull throughs that can accommodate any size rig and generally have much more open sky for solar power generation.
The campground has great views of the cliffs of the surrounding Taylor Canyon, including some areas popular with climbers, and is close to a few trailheads (Doctor Park and Summerville trails) which are popular with mountain bikers. Access is a breeze since the county road from Almont is paved and the campground loop is also paved.
Our biggest complaint is that the campground is overpriced for the services offered – pit toilets and garbage bins only. According to the camp host there is NO potable water in the campground even though there is one uncovered spigot; users beware. Campers must go to the One Mile Campground half a mile down the road to fill water jugs for potable water. The nightly price of $26 ($13 for holders of the senior and disabled interagency passes, but not annual pass holders) is high considering sites at One Mile are $28 with electric and access to potable water. Then again, One Mile is across the street from the river and doesn’t have direct river access or lovely river sounds, and we really loved the setting at Rosy Lane.
We had no AT&T service at all in the campground, and we were roaming on 3G in the closest town of Almont. The closest AT&T service is in Gunnison and Crested Butte.

This campground is a beauty, nestled right along the Taylor River between Almont and Taylor Reservoir. This is a smaller campground with spacious sites and lots of shade. We stayed in site #12, a back-in site, directly across from the pit toilets. You fall asleep to the sound of the rushing river and have plenty of stars at night. There is a handicap walking path on the east end of the campground that goes down to the river.
The campground hosts were among the best I have ever interacted with and the facilities are absolutely spotless. This was a great experience.
I was able to recharge my battery each day with solar, although there are a lot of trees. (1 - 100w panels, MPPT controller)
Cell service: Verizon 4G 1 bar, Tmobile nothing) - no booster. I didn't bother with the booster during our stay. I think I would have got much better service with the booster. If cell phone service is critical, try Onemile down the road towards Almont.
Your dumpstation options are at the Taylor Reservoir, Crested Butte Sanitation, The Tall Texan (propane available there, too) or Gunnison Sanitation.
TV with antenna: none
What I liked:
- Nice size sites
- Quiet, sites closer to the road have some road noise during the day
- Close to recreation (hiking, fishing, rafting, hunting, etc)
- Scenery is stellar, towering cliffs, rushing river, gorgeous pines
- Cleanliness was 1 10+
- Campground hosts 10+
What could have been better:
- Water spigot by our site was unavailable due to failed water quality test

This is a very clean well maintained NFS campground. It does not have any hookups so it is camping. The location is on a beautiful river with great access to Taylor Reservoir, Gunnison and Crested Butte with lots of mountain bike, road bike and hiking trails in the vicinity. Half the sites are along with river. We liked 14. While it sits back from the river, it is a little more private with boulders delineating the site. One of my favorite areas of Colorado. The only drawback is that it is close to the road. The road settles down at night but is busy during the day.

A simple campground in a gorgeous forest setting. If you're looking for a quiet place to get away from it all- this is the place. Large sites offer shade, picnic tables, fire rings and river access. We stayed in site 11 and enjoyed the sound of the river rushing past. Rosy Lane is close to several hiking trails and only a short 10 mile drive away is the amazing Taylor Park Reservoir. This area is a nature lover's paradise and we will certainly be back for a return visit.
