We chose this campground as our first destination during our road trip because it was close enough to Nashville and we also wanted to visit Cummins Falls State Park. Our arrival to the campground was easy and the staff was very welcoming. They have firewood available for purchase. Also during our walk around the campground we noticed a washer/dryer available to campers, as well as bath facilities. They also have Wi-Fi available to campers for free, and the strength is actually good!
The campground is absolutely beautiful, great areas to go swimming and take in nature. The campground was quiet for the most part. The campsites are spaced well enough away from each other. Each campground has a very nice picnic table and fire ring. Our site was pretty leveled, and we would definitely recommend this campground to others, and us ourselves would stay here again!
Happy Camping!

This is one of the nicest parks I've stayed in. Sites were level, beautiful new picnic tables, fire rings, and charcoal grills. Area not paved were raked gravel. Clean baths including showers. We love Rock Island State Park, which is located on the Cumberland Plateau in middle Tennessee. The 883 acre park begins at the headwaters of Center Hill Lake at the confluence of the Caney Fork, Collins and Rocky Rivers. The park’s whitewater sections attract freestyle kayakers from around the world. There is also a sand beach and boating access on Center Hill Lake. There are more than 10 miles of hiking/biking trails in the park. Though we have hiked all the trails in the park and our favorite is the Eagle and Blue Hole trail, we were inspired from walks along the Bluff Trail and wrote a story about Spring in Rock Island that you might enjoy. http://twolanesoffreedom.com/rock_island_state_park
The Rock Island campground is located up on the ridge and there are no waterfront sites. But almost every site is well laid out and each offer a bit of privacy. The campground was upgraded a few years ago and all the sites are paved and there are two modern bathhouses with $1 washer/dryers. Wi-fi is included and has worked great all the times we have been here and we do get 2 bars of 4G Verizon too. With booster it goes up to 4. Our favorite sites for larger rigs (35 ft.+) are 1,2,4,5,6,7, 11, 12, 23,24,33-sewer, 34-sewer, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 42, 44, 46. The park has one campground section that is open year-round, which was great for us this March, when all the COE campgrounds and other great Tennessee parks are still closed for the winter.

We stayed here to be close-ish to both Nashville and the Isha Center outside of McMinnville. While it ended up being a bit farther from Nashville than we would have preferred, it was a nice place to stay for a week.
The park is along a river with numerous beaches, picnic areas, and hiking trails. This is a park worth visiting just to see the beauty of it.
The only downside was that there is virtually no cell service and that made getting work done tough. The surrounding towns also don't offer much for coffee shops with good wifi.
We really enjoyed our peaceful stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking to get away!

I went for morning hikes in the area that revealed beautiful hike that were not for the weary. Some of the hikes were down some nice hill sides and through water. The main attraction around there is the twins falls! Absolutely beautiful, but a little drive away. I highly recommend it. The wifi there was actually really good!
