“Primitive Camping”

This is a fairly primitive campground with no services. There is a playground and pit toilets but nothing appears to be maintained. I had no problem with a 15ft trailer but I wouldn't recommend here for a long or low clearance rig. The Miners Trading Post in Sunnyside is a decent small grocery store.

We were there in mid October on a Friday. Weather was perfect and all the usable sites were taken. The pit toilets were not the best, hover pee only. No paper. But not a problem for us, we're self contained. We did have a good Verizon 4g signal.

I’m here again. Stopped here a few years back and nothing nothing has change. It’s still as safe and clean campground. Plus it’s only a 1.8 miles from the tiny town of Sunnyside so I didn’t feel totally isolated from civilization.

Not too far from the highway (about 10 miles) and there were plenty of camp sites. There are also several bathrooms which is nice. We were heading back fro Salt Lake City to Denver and this was a nice, easy stop.

We spent three nights here on the way to flaming gorge. First the towns near the campground are all very nice and tidy. No problems there. The dump station in Sunnyside was just as clean as could be. We even filled our water tank there but it looked like a brand new faucet too. The entry to the campground is not for the faint of heart. It takes a solid recon of the road and campsite you want to occupy. And there are multiple ways in and out to boot. From your arrival at the facility you will traverse east to get to either of the entry ramps...yep after all the effort to get up there you gotta go down to actually get into a site. If you are in anything bigger than a van I wouldn't try it in the dark or when it's wet just stay up top. We arrived around 2 in the afternoon on a sunny, dry day and it was okay. We went in on the east side of the playground. Both entry points are narrow and steep but you've probably been in an RV park that is as steep in spots. Campsites are not level. That bears repeating...but I won't. In our case we chose the southeastern site for the view and never got fully level but we were close enough for comfort. There is one on the inside of the road on the eastern side that did appear to be close enough that we could have levelled. We had a couple neighbors for each of the nights. Wind every day during daylight hours, Cold, clear nights with great star watching potential. Very quiet. Nobody was using the ATV trails. We'd stay again but probably only overnight.

Not too much around the area, but I would go out of my way to get here again.
No hookups, but there are dumpsters!
Cell service was solid on Verizon and ATT, allowing us to stream and make calls on either without problem. No booster necessary.

A guy approached us saying that there might me a lot of activity from them. Wasn’t sure if he wanted the camp all to himself and was trying to get rid of us or if he was for-warning us they they my be loud. Not sure what that was all about kind of weird. If was kind of odd to be approached in a free campsite. Otherwise, a quick stay, close to the main highway on our way to Moab, toilets available, even a playground.

Overnight stay on the way to Moab in a 27’ Class C towing a Jeep. Easy to get to, paved road all the way to the Campground, then dry bed river rock. Back in site Was dry river bed rock. Large picnic table, grill and fire ring at each site. There were vault toilets but we didn’t use. Only 2 other sites in use when we arrived.

Good Verizon service.

This was a great find on our way from Moab to Salt Lake area. Was surprised to find the small campground area was clean with great back-in sites. They have large river rock down which is great for not bringing dirt into RV. Our site was pretty much level. We have a 37FT class A and were pulling our 4Door Jeep Wrangler when we pulled through the small campground with no issues. We unhooked right after pulling through and then backed up into the site. Sign says 14days free camping. Every site has an extra-large picnic table and Extra large fire ring and charcoal grill. Here on Memorial Day Weekend and there were two sites open on Friday night and some Tent campers left the next day and two sites stayed open the whole weekend so I'm sure you will have a site on any day of the year even if pulling in late like we did. There is FREE DUMP and water 2 miles away in the town of Dragerton.
