We stayed here the night of July 3. Did not find problems with noise from rafters. Their parking lot and launch site is out of sight. This is a side of the road site, and thete is some dust from passing cars. The view is magnificent as others have said. The road has been kept oiled (or whatever they use) so minimal dust issues. Vault toilets are clean. Would love to spend more time here.

We stayed there the last Sat in March and were one of only 3 sites occupied. We'd planned to stay at Elephant Rock down the road but passed on that after seeing how crowded it was and am very glad we kept rolling. The river was only a stone throw away from our site-was surprised to see folks already rafting the Arkansas in March. There were decent hiking trails nearby, the mountain views were spectacular! CG was very serene after dark- fair amount of day use traffic. No trees for shade so an awning or canopy is needed as I bet it gets pretty toasty in the summer. The sites were large enough and had plenty of spacing between them. The vault toilets were available. Luckily for us a helpful ranger stopped by to assist with rules for use as we were on the phone w/rep from the 800 number on the campsite sign who had no clue about check in rules for the site, fees, etc. Overall a great experience and would certainly return in Spring or fall. Guessing this place is super busy in summer months since it's a launching spot for rafting/kayaking.

We arrived at our site after dark and took the "long way" as suggested by the state was a little nervewracking, but after seeing it in the daylight, the old train tunnels were cool to drive through!
Our friends had a site reserved and the site across from them was open, but was HA, so we called last minute and were told it was OK to book.
Pull through sites are on the road, but have great views. Several back in sites have berms so there is also some privacy and distance between sites.
We didn't use the public toilets because we had one in our camper, but nobody seemed to be unhappy using them.
Fishing access to the Arkansas River was relatively easy and two of the three days were great fishing.
This site is away from the highway and the road noise was minimal.
Train never came through.
The sites by the north end parking lot have way more traffic from day trippers.

We didn't stay here because you are literally right next to your neighbor and there was no shade. I guess there is a train that rolls through?
So if you are okay with all of this, then this is your place. I just wrote this review to let others know that it will be full of people coming and going. There are a couple of dispersed spots along the way in.
