Traveling from MKE to Harper’s Ferry. Did not make a reservation & plenty of spots available. Stayed a Monday night. Quiet, prairie setting in HUGE ark. There is a farm that sells meat & dairy. Large playground. Over 9 miles of hiking trails & more paved bike trails.

PROS
Park beautifully maintained and mowed throughout
Site 109 shady
Site 109 gravel parking pad level
Moveable wooden picnic table
Metal campfire ring with cooking grate
Roadways easy to maneuver without obstacles
Quite except for train whistle close by
Partial privacy from neighbors
Toilet/shower facility in next campground (Savanna) very clean and sufficiently stocked
Very nice 12 ft wide asphalt bike trails
Night sky friendly as no street lights in campground
Firewood for sale at entrance gate
Frequent park ranger campground drive throughs
Double lane dump station
Double lane portable water fill stations
CONS
The aroma of the pit toilet between Spruce and Savanna Campgrounds could be smelled throughout both campgrounds. Disgusting!!!
No hand wash station at pit toilet
Modern toilet/shower facility only in Savanna Campground
No security gate closure overnight
All trash dumpsters near campground entrance gatehouse
5pm checkin
No interpretive programs Monday thru Thursday
Be sure to visit Tippecanoe National Historic Site Battlefield & Museum. Small fee for museum admission, but the battlefield is available at no charge.
Clean, reasonable and large laundromat on Brown Street in West Lafayette.

Although I stopped in for an overnight stay, I had wished that I could have spent more time. Wonderful meadows, walking paths, level site with hookups. Can’t wait to return.

Reserved one night as we were making our way from NY to CO and needed a spot with FHU so we could shower and dump. When we arrived we decided we decided to stay an extra night and check out the trails, the Farm and the nearby Tippecanoe Battlefield. Large clean sites. Reserved a large FHU pull through as we were only going to stay one night and didn't want to have to unhook. Other loop is electric only and all back ins, but does have showers. We just used our own.
If we weren't on a schedule we would have stayed longer and explored the trails.

Best state campground with full hookups and pull through spots. Great landscaping and layout. Ranger check in went quickly with friendly staff. Fantastic bike trail throughout the park. Spectacular sweeping views of the Wabash River with forest and prairies.

Water park was busy, but the boys had a great time. Bike/walking trails are nice.
The amenities section lists 30 and 20 amp. All pedestals have 50/30/20.
Price I noted includes tax and $5 on line registration fee.

We made reservations two months in advance of our trip to this state park and even then I was only able to reserve a site with electric and not full hookups. This is an extremely popular campground and it was full or close to full every night, even during the week. That said, it didn't feel crowded and our fellow campers were respectful of quiet hours. Sites are large and level, the bath house is clean with hot showers, and we enjoyed watching the birds that were nesting in the bushes behind our site. While the park has many amenities (bike trails, the aquatic center, and more) we were in the area visiting family and only explored a small bit of what Prophetstown State Park offers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; this was our favorite campground during our 2-week, 8-state trip!

There are tons of paved bike paths not only in the campground, but leading all around the park. There are many playgrounds located throughout the large park. Tons of hiking trails of varying difficulty too. There is a working farm village with animals to pet, all open to the public. During the summer there is an AWESOME aquatic center with water slides and a kid zone. It is never very busy there. Love it!! It feels like the best kept secret. Can't say enough about how much we love Prophetstown State Park.
