“Excellent beach, clear, calm water with soft sand on the shores of Lake Erie, good cell signal”

Located in the town of Port Burwell and on the shores of Lake Erie, the campground is well-treed and has small, reasonably private campsites. Campground features comfort stations with showers, a sanidump, water spigots located throughout the park and electric sites available. Expect the campground to be thick with campfire smoke in the evenings in summer.
Campground is located a 15 minute walk to the beach area on trails or you can drive down the road to access the beach as there is ample parking available. From the parking area, you cannot see the water as you have a 5 min walk on pathways over a marsh and sand dunes to get to the beach itself. The beach at Port Burwell is protected by a berm that juts into Lake Erie: water is unusually calm and clear water and soft sand underfoot. A popular beach that is arguably nicer and a bit less crowded than Long Point.
A 20 min drive west will take you to Port Bruce Provincial Park, a day-use only park but your camping pass will get you access to the parking area or you may be able to find free street parking. Parking area at Port Bruce is very close to the beach in full view. This beach is also lovely, protected by a berm with soft sand and clean clear water. Overall, Port Burwell and Port Bruce were my favorite beaches on my trip.
Decent cell signal at Port Burwell but poor signal in Port Bruce.

“Relaxed forest camping”

The sites in Port Burwell are all set within a fairly dense forest. On the plus side, this makes for very private camping, but it also means that the sites don't get all that much sunlight. Access roads can be narrow, we just (and only just) made it into our site with a 34' Airstream.
Making up for this are large meadows dotted around the forest, some with huts and structures where the Park Rangers run educational programs. Great fun, and well executed, for kids and adults alike. The Park is incredibly kid friendly, with a great playground.
The comfort stations and showers are clean, new and well looked after as in most Ontario Parks. Laundry facilities were new, with clean appliances.
The beach is a drive away, which is a bit of a shame, and not all that nice. When we camp here, we tend to do forest-y things and leave the beach to Long Point, next door.
Cell coverage is spotty. Groceries and gas are a ten minute drive away.
