We were just there (Feb 2022). We drove down Plomosa about 1.5 miles where it was way less crowded...Paid ZERO dollars! We did not see any camp host, but there may have been a host at the beginning of the Plomosa Rd. camping area.

Plumosa Road is free. You find and check in with the camp host then go find your spot. When we arrived in early March 2021 the camp host had already gone for the season so we just went and found a spot. Stayed 5 nights.

The first part of the road at Plomosa and I95 is a pay area. Once you get past that small section it’s WFO or wide … open. I’ve spent as much as six months straight there with no issues. I was there 3 months this year and unfortunately had to leave due to a very large contention of militiamen and women who seem to think hipster dufus’s like myself don’t belong anymore. Word to the wise, if your political beliefs are not online with Arizona, you might not like it. I personally will never go back and that sucks! Quartzsite was an amazing place for boondockers.

Camping in the BLM areas along Plomosa Road is free, 14 day stay limit. You register with the camp host just as you turn onto the road, but no $$.

It is free (or at least it was the last time we were there). There is usually a camp host (well signed) there that you still need to register with for a free 14-day permit which you post in your windshield. Read our blog post under the reviews by "Those Young Guys" for more details.
