This park is like many TN State parks - well appointed and very well kept. The sites in the Pin Oak section are gravel with full hook ups. Everything was immaculate and in good working order. This park is like many TN State parks - well appointed and very well kept. The sites in the Pin Oak section are gravel with full hook ups. Everything was immaculate and in good working order. The views are lovely, especially with the fall changing leaf colors. We didn’t use the public restrooms or laundry, so can’t comment on those. No one at the front gate to check in, but tag was on the site post designating that it was reserved with our name and dates. The camp hosts were friendly and very helpful. Fire wood for sale at the camp host site. The park is perfect in every way EXCEPT be aware that there is extremely limited (if any) cell service. Our site (27) had zero bars on Verizon. We walked around the campground and were unable to get more than one bar and then not enough to make a call. We saw several campers using Starlink, which I suspect is necessary if you need to have contact with the outside world.

We stayed here 3 nights and even though it rained 1 night it was one of the best stays at a TN state Park! The park is immaculate, by far the cleanest we’ve experienced. We stayed here 3 nights and even though it rained 1 night it was one of the best stays at a TN state Park! The park is immaculate, by far the cleanest we’ve experienced. Full hookups, digital tv channels for the rainy days, and even some cell service. The sites are well spaced, plenty of privacy. Bath house was clean and renovated. Lake was beautiful, plenty of fish for the fishermen and a great swim area for the swimmers. Plenty of activities, trails, boat rentals, kayak, etc. birding was plentiful. Tons of great things to say, I could go on and on. Really don’t have any negatives from this trip. Ate at the lodge on bbq buffet night, the food was as expected. Will definitely be back!!

We stayed here for just one night in June of 2023. We needed a one-nighter and also wanted to do some laundry. Reserved a pull-thru that had one pull-thru in front and several in back of us. Kind of closer than we like and nothing other that a tree in between. The sites down on the lake were nicer, but when talking to one of the people there, realized how hard it might be to get one of those sites (I think they had reserved months & months prior). Laundry was decent and the little beach was really nice!

Had site by the lake. Great showers and bath facilities. Lake was fun both for swimming and kayak. HUGE sites and ample room to maneuver. Would absolutely stay here again.

Stayed here for one night in late November. The park had some, but not many campers. We came in without reservations. The campground host suggested site 34 which was a pull through with full hookups. It had a nice view of the lake and was close to the dock area and the bathhouse. Coming from I 40 east bound, the GPS took us through some backroads with no signage for the park, but did get us to where we were going. We left via what would appear to be the main entrance to the park. The cell service Verizon was week, but did get some things through. Used the showers to avoid hooking up water and sewer. The bath house was clean, but could use some maintenance. Why do so many campgrounds have problems keeping up with rust? But the showers were hot and the water pressure was good. There was adequate hooks and space to necessary items.

This small campground is off the beaten path in between Memphis and Nashville. It is on a beautiful lake that is serene and wooded. Site have electrical, water, and sewer and big rig friendly. The sites next to the water are amazing.

We are thrilled to have found this place. Had been looking for a place roughly half way between NW part of Arkansas and the Great Smoky Mountains and this place fit the bill. The campground can accommodate any size RV, but pay attention to site descriptions as some are small/short. Our site's drive for camper and trailer was 61'. Two sites over was a large Class A. All sites have full hook ups including 30 and 50 amp. Some sites are pull through. Our site was not on the water but we had a lovely view of the lake from our site. Bathroom/shower facility was older industrial (concrete block and metal) but very clean. There is no wi-fi in the campground. In fact, there is little to no cell service. We are ok with that though because a) I knew that ahead of time from reading the campground info and b) having an unplugged couple of days is good for us :)
The state park entrance is right off of I40. But for those arriving late/in the dark... the campground is about 9 miles from the park entrance, and you lose service in places on the road. So as a back up, have a park map print out with you, or have it pulled up on your electronic device before getting to the park.
The state park itself is very large and is inside a state forest. We took a long drive through the park, did a little hiking. It is beautiful! We plan to return someday with our motorcycles. We want to ride around this park area as well as the Natchez Trace National Parkway which we can access about an hour east of this campground.

While our pull through site did not overlook the lake, it was a 4 minute walk to the fishing dock and other areas along the very pretty Pin Oak Lake. While our pull through site did not overlook the lake, it was a 4 minute walk to the fishing dock and other areas along the very pretty Pin Oak Lake. Despite being over the weekend, the campground was very quiet, except for the gunshots heard on Sunday coming from the rifle range several miles away. While the bathhouse was outdated, it was clean. Only negative was not being able to get any maps of the campground, park and trails. While there was a big sign at the check in area(not manned the whole time we were there) with a QR code to download maps, there was little to no cell service in the area, so not able to do that. No cell service at our site but could get one bar by the lake. All in all, though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Overall Rating
Stayed at this Park for 2 days and wish we had stayed longer. Back part of site was slightly sloped, although for longer RV’s the entry slope might be problematic. We were able to walk kayaks to the lake and the coves and views were amazing. Only bad thing is the 50 amp receptacle was mounted upside down so the box cover wouldn’t close

This was the worst camping experience I've ever had. The camping sites we're really small. And they were so picky about their grass. The geese poop all over the play area and the swimming area was disgusting!!
