This KOA stands out because of team member Cheryl. What a helpful & friendly person. She went out of her way to accommodate us arriving early.
We had been rear-ended in NY and our tow bars broke. We were so worried about being in that traffic nightmare again and now each of us driving a vehicle which makes navigating a large diesel pusher thru these tiny highways, maze of toll roads, etc extremely difficult we left early am from NYC to Coatesville. We are from the West coast where there’s lots of freeway choices, no low bridges and very few small streets that you’d ever get an RV stuck like the East coast so my anxiousness was already at a high level being in the rig navigating that having to drive my car and navigate the RV was beyond nerve wrecking.
Arriving an hour earlier than checkout, too early for early check in I was on the verge of tears! This is a country area, no where for us to sit and wait with a 38 foot rig until check in hoping to pass a Walmart, a grocery store anything like we had hoped, and here we were at the campground with no designated RV parking area but Cheryl like a superhero sprung into action, told us we could park in the basketball court area, she hurried to see if the campers in our spot were almost packed up, she was on the walkie talkie making things happen!
After going thru a traumatic accident where you almost lose your tow vehicle off the George Washington bridge, you can see how impactful this kindness was to us. If we still owned our business I’d steal her away if she’d be willing to relocate, she is a high asset to any business and she is perfect to greet travelers along the way. KOA Coatesville take note, you have a truly exceptional team member on your hands! The campground is a lovely property and beautiful area with tons to do nearby, highly recommend this KOA.

Wouldn’t recommend site 52 but the place is great! Be weary of booking in the wooded area during late Sept thru Oct while the walnuts are falling!

Stayed end Sept 2021 - My son lives in West Chester, PA so this was the closest campsite. We were thrilled when we got there. We had a premium, patio back in site and it was absolutely beautiful. We were on the top of the hill looking over the pool, play area, and office below. The campground was so well taken care of and the surrounding area was beautiful to walk around. Great restaurants, shopping, hiking, and more only a few miles away.
If we didn't have a premium site, the regular sites looked a bit tight. The tent sites were amazing right along the river. This seemed to be a family wonderland, but everyone was respectful and there even with tons of kids and campers no one was excessively loud.
The only issue was access to the park was quite a bit hairy with such a large 5th wheel on the very narrow windy roads heading into the campground. Also, be very careful to follow their directions. Bridges coming from the other side of the campground are shut down due to recent flooding so you'd have a very hard time turning around if you went that way.
Cell service was great.

Close to DE mansions, museums, and Philly. Staff was friendly and helpful. Site was mostly level. Amenities were very well kept. Store was well stocked. Roads were a bit tight getting in but a few Motor Coaches and large 5th wheels were here. WIFI was pretty good. Has very basic CATV. Can pick up right many over the air TV channels. Verizon was good. AT&T was good in some spots in the campground and not so good others. Great place to stay.

They did implement some restrictions due to COVID-19 but kept as much open as possible. Site was secluded and completely shaded. It is tough to get to the campground as the roads are narrow and have lots of blind curves. Follow the campground provided directions and go slow and you will be fine.

We just got here, so I’ll try to come back and update. However, I wanted to get this information in to prevent others from having a white knuckle experience. In an email, they (Philadelphia / West Chester KOA) send a small map and written directions, stating Do NOT FOLLOW GPS DIRECTIONS. Ok, so we followed the directions in the email. In the last 3ish miles, our roof got hit by low branches at least a half dozen times. The passenger side mirror also took quite a beating. We are not huge, at 36 feet. We are a motor home, not a big tall fifth wheel. Although big rigs may be ok in the campground, you really don’t want to drive here!
After calming down: The campground itself is big rig friendly. (although I would suggest beaming your rig there) The staff was very friendly. Dogpark is nice. Pool is very nice, and they employ lifeguards.
