We spent a very pleasant week at this campground on the shores of the Dillon Reservoir. Our site was large with lots of space between us and the neighbors. Even though we didn't have a direct water view, we only had to walk a few feet over the berm to see it. The beach was nice with a sandy shore and clear water. The biggest downside to this campground is the lack of trees. If you're looking for a wooded national forest campground, this is not it. Due to the bark beetle infestation most of the trees in the campground have been cut down. We knew going in that this was the case and it didn't bother us to much. Some smaller trees remain and the forest service has planted many young trees in an effort to re-grow the forest. Because of the lack of trees, there are very few sites that have any shade. Luckily it was not hot during our stay, so we didn't mind. We loved the location here which was close to several cute towns, 4 ski areas, many shops and restaurants and tons of hiking trails. We would not hesitate to return and stay at Peak One again.
