The grassy area was nicely mowed and has rows of trees with gravel/dirt parallel roads. There are no marked areas to park except 6 back in sites to the west with a view of the lake. There were several ramadas, movable picnic tables and old style outhouses. Three RV’s were parked on the grass between the rows of trees while we were there. We opted for a sunny lake view back in site. Near the entrance there was the pay station, trash bins, dump station and a modern outhouse.
If you head straight towards the lake instead of turning right into the grassy area, there is a huge open area with areas of level parking. There were some old style outhouses, a few cement pads and a couple old ramadas. People were also camped down here. There is no shade here. It looks and feels very primitive.
There is access to trails on the lower part as well as a 2 boat launches.

Good place to stay about 8 miles north of I-94 with trees for shade. With bathroom, no water, but very quiet as we were the only campers there on an August evening. A few day-use people. Trail through meadow, but we didn't have time to do it. One newer pit toilet near entrance was good.

The reservoir and boat ramp are right down the road; Jamestown is only a few miles away. Your federal access pass gets you a discount here so we paid only half of the usual $10.
Runswithdogs would stay here again

There were several other groups of campers here and lots of ATVs. The easiest way to get here is get off I 94 at Exit 256 and go north on 52/281. There are signs for the campground on the road. We got off at Exit 258 because the exit sign indicated 52/281 was at that exit, but we ended up driving through the town. Exit 256 is much shorter and quicker. Your Golden Age/America the Beautiful Pass is good here so we only paid $5 per night. We didn’t hear any road noise. It was very windy but at least the sun was out!
