This park checked off everything that I love camping with my family. Hiking trails, canoeing, fishing, water activity, nature center, LOTS of shade and trees, and most importantly, nice clean bath houses.
This park will easily be marked off as one of my favorites.
ONLY downside was that our neighbors were close and there was a huge break in the trees that we saw each other the entire time. They were ok so it didn’t bother me. We were right across from the bathrooms.
Next time we come I’ve picked out a few spots I think we would love.
My dad rented a cabin, they are SO nice and clean. The screened in porch was so convenient at night when the mosquitoes were feasting.
The mosquito situation wasn’t as horrible as I expected being in a swampy area.
Overall this park is amazing and I will definitely come back.

With our senior lifetime pass it was all half price. We reserved only just to hold but showed pass at check in and received discount.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon. The place was pretty quiet and we were in site #1034, which was a double site. All the sites are secluded with plenty of shade plus we had full hookups.
There is a really nice trail that you can either bike or walk on called the Palmetto Trail.
The bathrooms are updated and very clean. Laundry has Pay Range and is a very nice facility.
Very large park with 3 lakes to fish in or kayak on.
Nearby Abbeville has a quaint downtown and square. They have a farmers market the third Saturday which we went to and ate dinner at historic Dupuy’s. Delicious oysters.
The weekend was descended upon by loads of people - mostly families - which we loved seeing all the kids. All cleared out on Sunday and it was back to very quiet.
Extremely nice splash pad area with a meeting room that can be rented out for a day. Nice bath house facilities as well.
Plenty to do as a tourist in the surrounding area. We took in Avery Island and the Tabasco Sauce factory, Jungle Gardens tour on Avery Island, Jefferson Island and Rip Van Winkle Gardens, Spanish Festival in New Iberia - all of which were incredibly interesting and worth the effort.
Louisiana honors the American Golden Pass and also those over 65 for half price.

It takes some dedication to get to the park, but it’s worth the effort. Check in was easy: the park employee was very nice and knowledgeable. We found and set up in the last spot in our loop. The site was level and quiet. The “comfort station” was very nice and clean. Laundry is $1.75 for wash and dry. You can use an app to pay or use quarters. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. There are several walking paths to take,as well as canoeing trails. We ran out of time and regretfully didn’t kayak. We went to Shucks in Abbeville and had some amazing oysters and Cajun food. The owner, Dave, was very gracious and told us about his family heritage here. The only negative thing was how much trash there was along the roadways. Pretty sad how little the locals feel about taking care of their local community.

The park is clean, trash receptacles numerous, and the staff is very helpful. The ranger at the gate, upon asking if we were 62 or over, proceeded to refund half of our camping fee. Nice!
We would gladly return and spend more time to discover more of that park.

When checking on line this campground was full, but there was mention that if you check-in at the entrance there may be walk-in sites available. We arrived late morning on Saturday April 23rd and there were two sites available. The place is well laid out w/one way vehicle traffic, large mature shade trees, fire ring and picnic table. Power available for 100, 80, 50, and 30 amp, and water. Everyone seems to come from Louisiana with at least one golf cart, so there is a steady stream of families w/slow moving carts throughout. Bath house is fantastic, super clean and new tile, good fixtures and shower curtains w/ample changing area and hot water and air conditioned (5 minute walk from #13). Excellent value, and a really great State Park.
The amount and variety of birds in the campsite was really a lovely surprise, but, the hundreds of gypsy moth caterpillars consuming the trees overhead and falling on you I could have done without. 84 degrees and 70% humidity today.

We stayed here for 5 nights in early February of 2022. Picked a site online that faced away from the road and really had no one behind us. We really appreciated this site, as this campground got crazy busy on the weekend! Lots of people driving around in golf carts (not something we see elsewhere) and pre-Super Bowl parties. Some music louder than it should have been, but everyone was having a good time!
We enjoyed the walking, the trails, the sunrise over one of the ponds and our little armadillo friends that hung out behind our trailer!
Our site was long enough, large enough and level enough. The laundry facilities were great and I think this park had the best book exchanges!
We had the senior discount so averaged under $14 a night for water and power - we love the Louisiana State Parks for this! We would definitely stay here again.

Final miles into campground are beautiful with bayou cypress/lovely live oaks. Friendly campground hosts that keep the bathrooms and grounds spotless. Spring weekends are super busy with locals, but midweek is quiet, calm and serene. One of our fav spots as we travel the country with our 21-ft Chinook Concourse. Tabasco tour 45 minutes away!

Lots of little nature trails, and a huge splash pad. Yes, it's out in the boonies for sure but we like nature and off the beaten path locations, so was perfect for us! And the wifi at this spot anyway was awesome, able to stream all of our favorite programs!! 31' travel trailer
