How is the grocery store in the area? Just wondering how much to stock up before we arrive. Thanks!

We spent 2 weeks at this campground. We enjoyed it thoroughly. It is close to The Big Bend entrance. Not far from the grocery store as well.

Additionally, since it’s FHU most people don’t use the bathroom- however the one person shower house is hands down the most posh and wonderful shower house in our past 7 years of full time camping! So great!

The sites were nice, easy to get in and out of. As mentioned, the bathhouse was lovely. Staff was great. There was a food stand right out side the campground that had great food!

When we were there and visited Bug Bend National Park, the Rio Grande was dry!! You could walk in the river bed! So after spending 6 of the 7 reserved days we chose to leave a day early and I went to the office to let them know we were leaving early. They said it was no problem due to the drought conditions and no river to enjoy. We knew we would give up our “day rent” and we were ok with that. A week later a refund was found to our CC and it was for 1 day of the reservation!!
To say the least, they are great people and very honest!! We would return there if we return to the area!!

We stayed at the end of the season so there was only 4-5 spots full, so we had plenty of room. The spaces are far enough apart and they face east so your rig will blocks the hot afternoon sun. Like all parks in Terlingua it is just a flat spot in the desert, so don't expect shade or grass at any of them. It is the closest to the park that you may not think is a big deal until you drive around the park for a couple days then you'll appreciate saving any miles you can. Now, it only has one bathroom which is nice with a great, always clean and has a rain head that at least makes you feel like all of the dust is washed off of you (news flash...you can never escape the dust!) but I bet it is an issue when the park is full. It also is not air conditioned so it gets HOT! The Little Dipper food truck out front is great too, we had breakfast burritos and biscuits every morning. I never meet Erica in the office but she was very responsive to my text and made it easy to reserve, check in and pay.

We patronized the food truck twice and enjoyed the tasty home-cooked food they served. Hosts were very helpful. Dark sky - amazing!
Pet owners: The two negatives are completely out of the owners control and not a knock on the place, BUT I'm mentioning this to be upfront to people coming to this area. You are parked on the desert floor - dirt and dust everywhere. If you have a dog, then all that dirt is going to be tracked into the RV. There isn't a single patch of grass to walk them in, and a rattlesnake was recently in the area - we were warned about it.
The second problem, the entire county and many other counties as well, lost power for about 14 hours. If you don't have a backup for powering your AC, the RV is going to be uncomfortably hot. The daytime temp hit 96 degrees (in March) and the power went out - we were at the Panther Junction area and our dogs were back in the camper. You need a backup source of power....Our solar panels and batteries kicked in and kept things cool - so keep that in mind if you travel with pets. If we were coming to this area again we would definitely stay here.

It started with Annette who was great to help us check in and show us where our site was. It ended with Rosa letting us stay past checkout as we were only traveling to Lajitas a few miles down the road.
In between we had a great level site, plenty of room between neighbours, and a nice concrete pad for our chairs. All hookups worked very well as they should, so that is always nice!
Park supplied Wifi was was super fast, and included in the price.
Paisano Village was only a few miles from the entrance to Big Bend NP, which needs to be on everyone's bucket list. It is stunning, period.
While the grocery and restaurant options are somewhat limited, we really enjoyed the food truck right in front of the RV park. Great food and reasonable prices, a winning combination!
We had great dark skies right outside of our door, however we did get some light pollution from the streetlights and the cars traveling down the road.
