We’re here right now. It’s now reservation only at recreation dot gov. Fortunately Verizon is very good. We picked a spot, checked availability online, and reserved it for 4 days. Only about 1/4 of the sites taken on Sunday and even less now.

We were just there (1/2/24), there were No envelopes or paper work at all. Had 4 neighbors, a couple more the next morning. No camp host! No one came by the next day! We’ve been coming here for years, the place felt deserted. It kind of looks like they just packed up and left….hoping we all play by the rules.

CHANGE IN POLICY SINCE FALL 2023: THIS IS A RESERVATION-ONLY CAMPGROUND, bookable on Recreation.gov. I booked my space upon arrival, using ATT. However, my T-Mobile did not work at this campground, so be aware of that.

There are plenty of first come first serve sites. Been there three times, never seen it full

When I was there (spring) there were plenty of open sites. If I were going back, I wouldn't make a reservation. Maybe if I was arriving on Friday or Saturday. It's pretty popular with the ATV crowd.

When we were there, reservations weren’t necessary.

There are both. Check Reserve America, usually there are many walk up sites available.

We stayed there a couple of times with no reservations. Lots of empty sites to choose from. They have a pay station with envelopes to put your money in. There is someone that’s comes in the morning to check to see if you have the receipt from your envelope displayed. If not they will contact you to make sure you paid.
