This site was gorgeous but getting there - OMG!! Really rough unpaved road with giant pot-holes & deep standing water. We came in from the north side per our map app and went out south-bound based on the state forest directions, both routes were crazy rough. We are in a small class C with very strong Mercedes cab, anything bigger would have a tough time getting there.
However, once we were set-up it was pure magic. No one around for miles, wide flat site right on the river. Beautiful spot if you’re willing to navigate the road in.

quite a drive down a long small sandy road to get here- big puddles after a rain but the surface underneath is firm, a quiet and beautiful spot on the river that was worth the drive to stay put for a few days. lots of room at end to maneuver and park. good cell coverage.

I searched out this place as a remote location to unwind, regroup and get away from the upcoming Thanksgiving Weekend. The doggo and I hung out, played ball, he went for a swim a few times and overall just relaxed. The only noise we heard was the sounds of hunting dogs and the odd gunshot on a couple of days as deer hunting started while we were there. Aside from that it was a relaxing quiet spot.
The road in is rough in spots. I didn't need 4 wheel drive but you do need to take it slow. Was it worth the longish drive in? Yes. I also recommend entering from the south as the north route is longer and confusing. I wouldn't try it at night unless you'd been there before.

The forest service advises that while the campsite is dry, the road to it is prone to flooding during high water. Access is easiest from the west side of the Carrabelle bridge from Highway 98, right on CR379 to Mill Road. After the paved road ends, continue to the long bridge & sign on the right for Pickett’s Bay Tract. Cross the bridge on Burnt Bridge Road then turn right on Warren Bluff Road and go 2.7 miles. The first post is for Warren Bluff Campsite #48, next post is for Oxbow #47 – follow the long drive to the right. Please review the overall map for campsites at Tate's Hell State Forest.
