{Dates Stayed: Sept 22-30, 2024}We stayed at the Blue Angels RV Park the first trip through Pensacola but we think Oak Grove is better. It’s smaller but on the NAS base and close to everything. The sites were fine with concrete sites & pine and oak tree shade. We had reservations to stay a couple of days as we headed towards our 6-month winter quarters but Hurricane HELENE forced us to extend daily through the week into the next. Naval Air Museum, Historic Lighthouse & Fort Barrancas are all within walking if hardy enough. Didn’t think the beaches were as nice as Gulf Shores AL this time. Still a lot to do around the area and provisioning is no problem. Walmart’s & Tractor Supply are easy to get to. There is a Sams Club up in North Pensacola nearer I-10. The main commissary is not on NAS but 6.5mi North at Corry Station. There are 2 NEX’s, one on NAS the other next to the commissary. The Mini-Mart on NAS has diesel.

We stayed there for Thanksgiving to visit our son who was there for AF flight training. Campground for active/retired veterans. Beautiful beach is a short walk from sites. Lady who checked us in was very friendly. Our first time staying at a base campground. Sites had good tree coverage for shade. Sites are close together but we met some awesome folks staying around us. Loved that we had so much in common. The campground set up a potluck thanksgiving dinner which was awesome. Great food and camaraderie. We fried a turkey that turned out excellent. Our neighbors had just lost their pup and we’re so wonderful with our dog. Even dog sat while we visited some friends in Fort Walton. Sites were full hook up, bathrooms were clean and conveniently located. Laundry was only $1 a load for wash and $1 for dry. Worked great. The beach was great because we could walk our dog on it. Most FL beaches didn’t allow dogs.

To get to Oak Grove use the West Gate via Blue Angel PKWY. If you come in the main gate, and don’t thoroughly know your way through the base, you can easily end up at the old Seabees gate area where there are blockade weaves that are not RV friendly. We checked in at the little campground (CG) office at the entrance then backed in to site 25 with FHUs. We couldn’t find the cable connection so checked with the office. The nice lady working the office came over and looked all around the utilities post where the newly run cable is supposed to reside. She finally found it out front by the cement pad. We ran the cable under the trailer and the very wide variety of channels worked fine. This is an older CG with lots of trees so satellite would be iffy. This CG has it own entrance to the beach that did not have a lot of people traffic during our 5 nights stay. There are a combination of back-in and pull through sites with 50 & 30 AMP service. The sites tend to be fairly close to each other. Several reviews state spacious sites, but compared to campgrounds we’ve stayed in, only a handful of sites such as deluxe sites 46-51 come close to spacious. The water pressure was very good plus we got 4 bars on Verizon. A bonus is that the CG is close to the Naval Aviation Museum and flight line where the Blue Angels launch and practice. We went out to the beach where we could see the Blue Angels practice on Tuesdays & Wednesdays when they are in town. After the regular duty day and on weekends the park was quiet. There are multiple trails and areas to walk your dog or ride your bike.

We camped here over Thanksgiving week. It turned out to be a great military FamCamp with many things to do around the campground and on the Navy base.
The “scary” part of this campground was the concrete barriers that are now common on military bases. We had to maneuver through the concrete barriers pulling our travel trailer to get to the military police and Marines guarding the main gate. The guards did say “Good job!” When we pulled up to the gate to show our IDs.
The campground was well maintained, the bathrooms were clean and the neighbors were friendly.
We forgot to bring our bicycle helmets, which are mandatory on most military bases. A quick trip to the PX solved that problem. It turned out that there are many great hiking/jogging/bike trails on base.
If you have earned the credentials to camp in military FamCamps, this is one is worth investigating.

We stayed at this park both going into Florida and when we were heading home. Campsites are spacious and easy to get into. All sites are back-in, but wide roads make it easy to maneuver. Campground is popular for snowbirds, but had sites available the whole time we were there. Oak Grove has its own private beach and is a great way to start your day watching the sunrise. The showers and laundry facilities are top notch. The laundry room has 6 washers and 4 large capacity dryers and cost $1 per load. There is a change machine there as well. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. All in all, it's a great place to stay.

We chose this park for our first trip in our new rv, as it was close to home and we were also taking our kitty on her first rv trip and didn’t know how she would react. The sites are level concrete, plenty of trees, pet friendly and very friendly host. There is a gas station/shoppette about a mile away. The park is easy to reach from I-10 just take exit 7 and follow signs to the Pensacola NAS and the air museum and you’ll be about 1/4 mile away. It’s a short walk to the beach but no swimming allowed, and a nice walk to the Air Museum and lighthouse thru wooded paths. Call ahead for reservation, as it appeared to have a lot of long term residents and few spaces available.

4. What pissed me off was the internet. We had it but they/MWR decides that certain websites are adult or violent for us adults. I wanted to get on wwe.com so I could watch Wrestle Mania and it's blocked. When you try to log on to wwe.com it comes up as being blocked cause its to violent or something. we pay for wwe network so we could watch the PPV but the MWR director says its to violent for us retired adults. so we will never stay at this campground again. even tho everything else was awesome, I don't like being told what i can watch or what i cant especially at my age. i should be the one that says that sites not for me. not some civilian MWR director. people say that well you get it for free so you cant complain. WRONG. you pay for a site and it comes with all hookups cable and wi-fi, plus i did 21 years in the military so we have paid for this service. thank you very much

I have stayed at this site several times, although I'm a tent/car camper hence my "cheap" price. Tent camping is $7-8 (some sites have a platform), and RVer costs $23-$29 per night. It is an authorized military user only park which includes Active, National Guard, Reservists, Retired, 100% DAV, DoD Civilians. DoD civilians pay a higher rate than the others. Most of the campground is shaded under trees (especially the tent sites), clean facilities, shower/bathrooms, coin operated laundry, covered pavilion with electricity, ice, etc. The tent sites have access to water but no other hook-ups. However, electricity is avail at the public use areas. Beach is very close in walking distance, and they do have cottages available. The beach area for the campground is a no swimming location, however lifeguards are just down the beach. It's easily within walking distance or you can pop in your car and drive over with your beach gear. Super close to National Naval Air Museum, and a lovely light house museum. You are located on base and can watch the Blue Angel's practice from the camp ground, or go watch the public viewings right across the road. Everyone is super friendly and everything is very clean. Highly recommend if you meet the authorized user requirements.

Sites 46 - 51 are considered water view sites (although most of the view is blocked by trees) and are reservable for a maximum of 14 days. Sites 1 - 45 are reservable for a maxium of 90 days.
Although the sites are close to each other, there is still plenty of room to make yourself home. Each site offers FHU. Campground is big rig and pet friendly. There are a few pull through sites; although, most are back-in.
Even if you don't have a water view site, the beach is only a short walk from anywhere within the campground. Swimming is not allowed a the campground beach; however, swimming is allowed at another beach a short drive away.
Trails for walking, biking, and hiking.
Free Cable TV and WIFI are avaialble. Both worked well, with only occasional slow periods with WIFI.
Campground was clean and well maintained. Includes recreation room, laundry, and bath house.
Other Key Points of Interest:
Short walk to Museum of Naval Aviation (also open to the public)! A must see for viewing aviation history from WWI through today! There are more than 150 restored aircraft!
The tallest (191 feet tall) active lighthouse in Florida is just a short walk from the campground! Pensacola Lighthouse (also open to the public) is open for tours daily and you can even climb to the top to view Pensacola Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, three historic forts, the Pensacola skyline, and the historic Navy Yard.
Almost every Wednesday you can watch the Blue Angels practice their show from the campground.
