I came out here last year and really enjoyed how peaceful it was, so I booked a different spot. 2021 I was in the white oak loop spot 108, and the pad adjacent to the camper sloped down from the camper and my elderly parents had a very hard time walking around on it. So, I chose the hockey loop this year, which is right next to it. There's a bathroom on the corner which was very close to where I was, and just like last year, it always smelled very clean. But, the motion activated light doesn't always turn on so I had to use a headlamp at night. My spot this year had a really nice although partially obstructed view of the lake from the rear of the camper. If you walk straight back towards the lake, you find yourself at the shore, which was sandy and shaded, so you could easily get in the water with a kayak or paddle board. This spot has nice shade after 12pm, before that time the sun was hitting us, but I never mind morning sun. Up by the maple loop where the dumpster is located is the family restroom and showers, which isn't marked on the building- so you'd think it was just s restroom unless you went inside. Nice big private room with shower, toilet, and sink and I never saw a person go on or out when I was using it. Close enough to walk to from 104 if it isn't urgent. It is 2 miles from the guard post to both white oak and hickory loops. I love this place. I will be back next year.

The park itself is beautiful and most sites look great, but avoid site 53. It is the main runoff for rain water and has no grass or gravel. The ground is uneven and washed out. It does have full hookups.

We started in a lakeside spot (110) with electric only but this was our first time out w our new motorhome, so we moved to full hook ups (51). Both sites were very nice, the staff was super helpful and we enjoyed the paved bike path.

This is a very nicely kept place. Only drawback, which doesn't bother me too much, is the distance to the dumpster. The shower house is close enough, right by the dumpster- so if you get trash juice on you, you can hop in the shower. There are hot water shower but the bathroom at white oak loop has only cold for rinsing your hands, and no soap. If you're looking for ice or firewood, try the marina. It's about a 5 min drive, and they have some odds and ends, but they close at 6pm. The spots in the white oak loop are electric only, but there are a few water spigots in the park, if you needed to fill up your camper using a tote. Bathrooms were fine. Kept very clean. There's a nice path from spot 108 to a clearing where you can walk up to the edge of the lake. It's a muddy shore, and I was too big of a wuss to try and get in the water there. South sandusky Beach is close enough. There lots of trees, so shade is plentiful. Site 108 is slanted a bit, and the cement pad next to the camper is slanted down away from the camper. It didn't bother me, but my parents who are in their 70s had a rough time.

We were close to the water but not right on top of it. Only a short walk. The paved bike trail was very enjoyable and appears to be extremely well done by the Corp! We look forward to riding the other 2/3rds at a later date. We will definitely go back!

This is a very nice Corps of Engineers run CG on Rend Lake, which is the dammed up Big Muddy River in Southern Illinois. The CG is neat and very well maintained. Many sites have big shade trees which is great in the summer heat. There are a few out in the open that would allow for Sat TV use. Many are using ground dishes to see Sat. Sites are very large and widely spaced. Most are reservable, some are walk up only. Use Recreation.gov for Reservations. Some loops/sites are full hookup, all have at least electric, 50 amp.
Restrooms in our (Maple loop) loop were family style, meaning stool, basin and shower all behind a locked door and they were spotless.
It was very quiet. Great paved bike trail for riding and hiking. Beautiful wooded lake area.
The only negative we saw was some sites are steeply sloped, although there are many that are flat or slightly sloped front to back.
The full hookup sites go fast, so reserve well in advance. The electric only sites are more available, especially the walk ups. Our loop was an extended stay loop, meaning 28 day max vs 14 in the other loops.
Verizon 4 was acceptable with a booster, spotty without.
Overall, a great quiet place.
