Nice little forest service campground on the Mills River. Well kept. The layout, spacing and forest provided nice spacing and privacy. Bathrooms were spotless, host was excellent. For supplies, the Ingles just as you turn down N. Mills River Road is one of the nicest grocery stores we have been in.

The sites were private. It hasn’t the easiest campsite to get to, but it is only about $45 from The Biltmore and Asheville. Nice river for fishing. Only one shower facility that was not located in our camping ring, but it was nice.

Only one or two sites look like they had hook ups (site 14 was the only one we saw.) Reservable sites are available across the river but if you are coming during the week the first come sites are preferable and should be available. Our host Jimmy was awesome and delivered firewood and ice every day.(Also recommended the best sites for our stay.) Bathrooms and hot showers were cleaned daily. River adjacent to campground was a big plus. This campground is much smaller than Davidson river and a little further from the the main entrance to Pisgah(12 miles) but the drive took us past a grocery store and Walmart which was handy. Ice cream from Dollys at the Pisgah entrance was worth the wait.

Nice campground, no cell service unless you go 4 miles down the mountain. But the campgrounds are nice and clean, they are a fairly good distance from each other so you have a pretty big area. Some of the sites are bigger to accommodate bigger groups, those ones cost 32

I stayed here in early March when you can only do “walk up”, which means no online reservations from my understanding. I didn’t see the fee station for some reason, but the really friendly camphost came and collected my money with zero attitude about that. There is only one loop open at this time of year and most of the sites are pretty short and won’t accommodate a larger RV. My 25’ class C was fine for probably five of the sites, and a couple sites could have held a few more feet. There are no hook-ups in this loop that is open in the winter. The main bathrooms were closed for the season but there was a pit toilet open. The fee per night was $11, but this area does offer 50% off with an America the Beautiful Pass if you have one, making it $5.50/ night with the pass. The sites that were big enough for RVs were nice, but not all were level. There is great hiking, mountain biking and fishing out of this campground. My dog and I loved it for cheap, winter dry camping!

Our site was pretty level and roomy. Only the 1 loop (no hookups) was open at this time of year, and it was unclear as to which sites were walk up and whick were reservable. I would definitely recommend checking the website at least a couple days before going to make sure.

Davidson River is close to town, yet very "out in the woods" feel. Convenient to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. The river is wide and beautiful, the kids enjoyed tubing while the husband and I were trout fishing. There are miles of roads for biking within the campground. The kids really enjoyed the sense of freedom to explore on their own. They are amply staffed with friendly people during the summer months. Bathrooms were well maintained and stocked regularly. Very difficult to secure a reservation at the campground. Plan on booking well in advance. Only the interior of the loops have electricity. No power with riverfront sites. Several waterfalls within a short drive from the campground. Great family atmosphere and added saftey makes Davidson River a MUST for any family looking to get away but still be close to local attractions and amenities.

Stopped for two nights with plans to tour the Sierra Navada Brewery just down the road. No hookups but dump station on the grounds. There is an Ingles grocery just down the road with gas available as well. Large site. Ours had a significant uphill grade. Very clean. We love the area and will definitely be back.
