North Leigh Creek Road

The road up was rough, and sites were sparce. Once we did find an unoccupied spot and set up camp, we were inundated with mosquitoes and deer flies. There are no facilities. Not even vault toilets, so, of course, our dog came back to camp having obviously indulged in a human pile. There is little to no trails for our four wheelers, and no views to be had in this tight canyon. We stayed one night and left to find a more desirable place to camp.

We were looking for a place to ride out Labor Day Weekend, and this place was perfect. Hardly anyone else came up here during the weekend. On the week days, it was all our own.

The GPS mark shows our exact spot (right beside a stream in a large opening) but there are a few other spots closer to town as you come up the forest road, as well as at the end of the road where the trailhead is. Peace and quiet and quite scenic. The only problem was the lack of a cell signal. Without a booster the signal here is worthless. Even with a directional booster the VZ signal was mostly useless and the AT&T was only just barely usable... sometimes.
