Pad vs site length. Will a 31ft RV fit the campsites at Morro Strand State Beach?

As others have said, this is clearly a converted parking lot. The spaces along the sides are just several former perpendicular parking spaces converted to one RV or tent space. Our site said it would take a 24 foot trailer, but our 17 foot Casita just barely fit perpendicular to the curb. A longer one would fit only if the rear end is hanging over the grass, or if you park parallel to the curb. Then you would have to park your vehicle elsewhere. The spaces in the middle assign you a spot on either side of the median strip, so you would park a trailer on one side and then put the tow vehicle on the other side and use the grass in between. The full hook up sites on the south east side look very nice, we may try to get them later. There is a nice bike trail leading all the way into downtown Morro Bay, and you can walk about a mile north through the neighborhood and climb down the Bluff to get access to the beach that goes from that point all the way to Cayucos and allows off-leash dogs. We will definitely be back. We’ve also stayed at the other campground at the south end of the city, which is also nice and more of a traditional campground.

Easy access to San Simeon, Cambria, Hearst Castle etc. we will be back again in a few years time. We love walking the beach.

We keep returning to this campground…. but only when we can snag one of the oceanfront spots. Yes, it is basically an oceanfront parking lot but oh what a view with miles of beach walks in both directions. Or we hop on our bikes and take the bike trail into town.

The campground is a parking lot, but we had two large spaces in which to park with a large grass strip/island in between. The strip is large enough for our 12’ canopy, which we placed over the provided picnic table. There is also a large firepit. Each grassy island has a water spigot to share (not a hookup). The strip is large enough for our 12’ canopy, which we placed over the provided picnic table. There is also a large firepit. Each grassy island has a water spigot to share (not a hookup). There are large bathrooms with flush toilets near by. You can’t see the ocean from many sites - from what I could tell because of the sand dunes. It is a short walk on paths to the ocean.

Opened the Campendiun weekly e-mail and the first campground " Morro Strand State Park " is where I'm at. Very quiet, good access to beach, great views and sunsets. It can get windy, but still beautiful!

We had one of the longer sites parallel to the beach vegetation for our truck and trailer. No hookups. The trailer was on asphalt and the site was sandy with a firepit. The tall vegetation protected us from the wind yet we could see over it from inside the trailer. People passing by walked right next to the trailer often looking in the door instead of giving it a wide berth. Rude. Otherwise, all were enjoying themselves. No rowdy campers. Quiet at night. Great sunset. Grocery store nearby and quick drive to downtown Morro Bay.

Near Morro Bay, and adjacent to the beach, but this is just an old parking lot. Some sites have a small view of the ocean, and you might get lucky with a view of Morro Rock, but don’t count on it. Sites are very small, and tight, with no privacy. Flush toilets, but no showers or dump station.

Beach is real nice and great spot to find sand dollars and shells when tide is out. Nice view of morro rock and great for walks or runs. Very close to a brewery and town is a short drive.
Cellular access on Verizon is great so can easily work remote etc if you need to

First time dry camping in our travel trailer. I booked a month in advance since they are only taking online reservations due to Covid-19. They do provide full hook but they were all taking. We stayed on site 20 which was great for us. The site has two separate parking spaces that will accommodate a 24ft RV and vehicle. The site also has a picnic table, burn pit, and the shared water value is about 5ft away. Clean restrooms which are about 50ft away. Great experience will book again!
