We stayed here 2/12-2/16. The manager of the campground was super nice. During Covid, so check in was no contact. But he came out to meet us and said if we needed anything to just ask. We had problems with our WiFi and he helped us out. We had to extend our stay due to weather, and it was no problem at all. We liked the location waking... more
We stayed here 2/12-2/16. The manager of the campground was super nice. During Covid, so check in was no contact. But he came out to meet us and said if we needed anything to just ask. We had problems with our WiFi and he helped us out. We had to extend our stay due to weather, and it was no problem at all. We liked the location waking up to the red rocks each morning. We would stay again.

I am writing this review to let others know the following about this KOA location in Monument Valley.
I am KOA member and I have utilized KOA's throughout the USA and Canada, and on January 13th, 2021 at 9:00 AM I walked into the office to request a RV spot, and the staff (older disheveled man and young woman) were on not wearing masks, and were not
They informed me that I must pay cash because they do not take credit cards, and I informed them that this is the only payment method I have. There reply was there's an ATM in town, and if you pay ten dollars extra in cash we will give you a t shirt?! **** It appears the staff was pocketed the cash ****
Thus, this experience was very odd and uncomfortable, so therefore I had to go to another RV Campground which was a better choice.
**** The next day I spoke to the owner and the owner indicated that they do take credit cards!!! ****

This is a flat gravel park with fantastic view on all sides. Easy to find and sites were pull through. Yes the Monument Valley Tribal .park was closed. But the Valley of the Gods was open. A well packed and smooth graded road runs through the Valley of the Gods which is huge and spectacular a grand place to take lots of photos. ... more
This is a flat gravel park with fantastic view on all sides. Easy to find and sites were pull through. Yes the Monument Valley Tribal .park was closed. But the Valley of the Gods was open. A well packed and smooth graded road runs through the Valley of the Gods which is huge and spectacular a grand place to take lots of photos. We drove over to Gouldings Resort and Rv and liked it better it is a beautiful campgrounds, in a red Rock Canyon and the sites are a decent distance apart .

What you expect- clean and friendly. Great views all around. Quiet. All depends on the people there. I would go back for a stay over.

I agree with an above review. The older white dude in the office refused to wear a mask and was rude when I expressed concern about going into an office to pay without him wearing a mask or that he thought was OK for others to not wear as well. He really should not be able to run a business on the Navajo nation if he chooses to disresp... more
I agree with an above review. The older white dude in the office refused to wear a mask and was rude when I expressed concern about going into an office to pay without him wearing a mask or that he thought was OK for others to not wear as well. He really should not be able to run a business on the Navajo nation if he chooses to disrespect his customers and the community. He made a comment that “even though we are on the Navajo nation I’m not sick” I agree that the Wi-Fi is totally useless. It’s a beautiful location and it was fairly quiet even though we were close together I chose to mostly stay in my RV or take long walks on the side of the road so I could stay distant from people. Respect is number one and respect for the Navajo people is even above that.

We stayed here in September 2019 and paid $51/night. This KOA has incredible views of monument valley and is as close as you can get to the entrance of the park without actually staying there. They offer Jeep rentals and their campground manager was very knowledgeable on where to go. The bathrooms and showers were clean and new - overall a great experience.

Every RV Park we visit starts at a 5 star rating and then I deduct stars from there. The flat gravel site was nice. The utilities were in the middle of the site, so that was fine. As we approached Mexican Hat , there were homemade signs that said Go home or wear a mask along the road. The two times we went into the office, the staff person was not wearing a mask. When we arrived, we were told Monument Valley was closed. People only come to this koa to visit Monument Valley. We would of canceled our reservations had we known. But maybe that was the point ...
Most parks place the trailers spread apart do people can social distance. Each day a new group came in (most only stayed one night) and everyone was placed next to each other While other rows sat unused. They could of at least spaced us out every other spot.
The flies at this park were terrible. We keep the g th it swatted out and in use for the entire time we were there.
Thier website said minimal internet. It was worse than minimal. We couldn’t check email, surf the web, anything. Our devices would connect to thier network but then would just sit and say loading until they timed out. There were afternoons when we were the only trailer in the park and we still couldn’t get on the web
Others in the park we talked with were complaining of the same issue. Their web site said minimal cell service. Our AT&T was nonexistent in the koa No phone, no data.
No over the air tv either. So now we have a four day reservation, visiting Goosenecks canyon and driving valley of the gods took one day. The rest of the time was spent sitting. We left a day early. We are currently at a state park with cell service, over the air tv and for half the price.
If the main attraction to your area is closed, you might want to mention it on your web site. In this day and age where people work on the road, poor internet is unacceptable. It is time to invest in a better system.

In 40 years of camping this was the first time to stay at a KOA as we usually dry camp. In 40 years of camping this was the first time to stay at a KOA as we usually dry camp. We were visiting Monument Valley when the night time temps were going to be below freezing so we wanted electricity to run our electric heater. I'm glad we chose this campground. I think it is located in a perfect place for easy access to all the sites and things to do in Monument Valley. Doc, the manager, was very friendly and gave us a lot of good information about where to go and what to see.
The campground is pretty sparse without a club house or pool or that other "resort" stuff which I actually liked. I don't think this remote and beautiful area really lends itself to a resort. However, Doc said they are building an upgraded & permanent bathhouse and upgrading their WiFi (which was very poor). There is also no cell service. The campground was very quiet when we were there and I think the max number of campers was maybe 4 one night. I liked that there was open space all around which took advantage of the beautiful views. The sites are closer than what I'm used to, but Doc spread everyone out well. There are some friendly horses that you can rent (or just pet) as well as Jeeps in case you don't have a car. I also saw a Navajo Tour come by and collect some campers right from the campground.
All of the hook ups worked fine, we just had to undo the water at night since the temps went below freezing, but it was no big deal. I would definitely stay here again as the views are beautiful and the night skies are something else. The location is perfect to visit everything in the area. Also, the campground was clean and well kept and I felt if we needed anything, we could have asked the nice manager for help.

This is a new KOA, opening in 2018. Given the 4 choices in the area we picked this one before checking anything else out since we had the 5th wheel in tow. This is a new KOA, opening in 2018. Given the 4 choices in the area we picked this one before checking anything else out since we had the 5th wheel in tow. It is located right off the highway with views of Monument Valley. Since it was new, it’s wide open. Someday there will be some shade after the trees mature.
We paid $65, including tax for a long pull through with 50 amp and full hookups. (It’s cheaper if you don’t need the 50 amps). Our premium site had a newly planted tree, picnic table, fancy fire pit, BBQ and a section of grass. Most sites were pull through, some were back in and there were 5 tent sites.
Restrooms were clean with private shower, sink and toilet. There was a play area and fenced dog area.
The office and store were obviously new, it even smelled new. Shelving with supplies were still being installed. There were 2 washers and 2 dryers a available. Friendly staff, the manager lives on site.
In retrospect, I think we would pay $7 more to stay at Goulding’s. There is more going on up there, places to walk the dog and things to do. We checked it all out and enjoyed the museum. Or maybe if we weren’t in need of power, we’d stay inside the monument (off season would have been $50 plus tax according to the brochure). We drove by the TiPi village but did not check it out, the phone number listed was disconnected. We took a drive to Uranium Flats and Gooseneck State Park. Both would have been doable, next time!
