If you enjoy boondocking, this is an amazing spot along the Utah lake overlooking the gorgeous snow-peaked mountains. My only regret is that in late May it was getting so hot we could only endure the heat for one day. We will be back in cooler weather. The camping area was crowded despite the heat. If you enjoy boondocking, this is an amazing spot along the Utah lake overlooking the gorgeous snow-peaked mountains. My only regret is that in late May it was getting so hot we could only endure the heat for one day. We will be back in cooler weather. The camping area was crowded despite the heat. The road coming in from the south is very curvy and the dirt road at the dispersed area is a little rough. Neither isn't anything that should prevent someone from enjoying this amazing place. The area is sprawling but it does get crowded. The bugs on the immediate shore of the lake were also overwhelming so we camped higher up where the birds were more prevalent and the bugs nearly non-existent.

We came here on a weekday and there were plenty of spots for dry camping. It's a nice/flat gravel road into camp and the camp sites are dirt sites with rock fire pits. It's a nice/flat gravel road into camp and the camp sites are dirt sites with rock fire pits.
We have an awesome view of Lake Utah. The gorgeous mountain view is a bonus.
It's a 20 min drive to the stores, Maverick gas station down the road for free dumping and lots of restaurants. There are lots of glass shards on the ground but manageable.

We stayed here over Memorial Day. It was crowded on Friday and Saturday but cleared out Sunday and Monday. There are a lot of birds to watch and for the most part it is pretty peaceful. We stayed here from Thursday night until Monday morning. The view is AMAZING! Snow topped mountains with a lake in front of it. Lots of traffic in & out all day long. Many driving very fast. The wind kicked up a ton of powder fine dust. We had a nice coating of dust on everything. Saw 2 Gopher snakes & many birds here. Lots of ... more
We stayed here from Thursday night until Monday morning. The view is AMAZING! Snow topped mountains with a lake in front of it.

Lots of trash down by the water. But not anymore then we've seen at any of the other BLM land we've been to.
We are 40 feet plus a 24 foot trailer. Many sites that we could get into (only 1 available when we arrived).
There are some campers that seem to be permanent residents there. So rangers must not check up.
Internet & phone were both very sketchy in this location. AT&T phones & Verizon jetpack w/booster.

However, last month in the state of Utah, the governor and the mayor of Salt Lake City issued a "STAY HOME, STAY SAFE" order because of the CoronaVirus. ... more
To find this place, drive south on UT-68 to MM 19 where there is a sign "Welcome To Your Public Land". We arrived around noon on Tuesday expecting the area to be mostly deserted.
However, last month in the state of Utah, the governor and the mayor of Salt Lake City issued a "STAY HOME, STAY SAFE" order because of the CoronaVirus. In Salt Lake City, the STAY HOME order had the force of law, with the possibility of getting a misdemeanor citation. However, the order allowed "necessary trips to buy food, medicine, and OUTDOOR RECREATION (YES!).
Maybe because it is May, and a lot of people were just now getting brave enough to leave their homes, we found this area almost filled up with campers on Tuesday. On the weekend, you probably will not find an open spot. Along the main roads, there were 12 campers, and 4 brave souls who drove their rigs up a semi-steep road to park 1/2 way up the hill. If you like to camp in groups, most of the campsites are large enough to easily fit two or three campers. We did see 3 open camp spots in the level area on Tuesday.
Like other reports, we caution you NOT to take a long unit down the hill to the lakeside. You will not be able to turn around. However, if you have a small camper-van, or a pickup camper, there are 3 good spots on the lower road right against the lake shore. There are no sandy beaches, but you can easily launch a canoe or kayak. Fishermen were catching catfish and carp.
Along the main road straight in, the road surface is good. However, one of the side roads has a severe dip that would drag the back end of a long camper. If you get into a back road and it rains, you may be stuck for a week, in soft muddy clay.
Final comments: If you like a lake view with mountains in the background, this is a beautiful dispersed camp area. However, there is NO SHADE, no trees, the highest growing thing around is 2-foot sagebrush. My wife likes to hang her hammock between two trees, but not around here.

We LOVED our stay here! Amazing views, no noise, not too much company around. Would definitely stay here again passing through Utah! The only downside was the amount of broken glass and trash! The wind also got really loud in the evening.

I wanted to give this place five stars so badly... until I walked around with my dog. I got some amazing photos of this beautiful place. My dog got glass in his paws... and there is lots of trash. What a bummer.

We stayed one night. Road back to the water is not two bad, but do stay on top and don’t go down to the water. If you are in a bigger rig, you will not be able to turn around. There are signs that say no motorized vehicles down by the water. This is BLM land to a certain point. You can stay for up to 14 days. It looks like so... more

This is BLM land to a certain point. You can stay for up to 14 days. It looks like some folks out here have been here well beyond 14 days. Toward the end of the road there is a green barb wired fence you can drive through (no gate). This is where you will need to turn around before you go down to the water. This is where we disconnected our toad. This is the area we set up camp for the night. Inside this fenced area is not actually BLM land. It is the States land. Not sure if we were allowed to stay in this area or not, but did not learn this until after we set up. A local rancher stopped by, he was a very nice guy, and told us this information. He said as long as we were not down by the water with our motorized vehicles we should be good. And no one ran us back to the BLM land. I much prefer to park where we did, inside the fences, then on the actual BLM land. Just couldn’t find a suitable spot on BLM due to those that have apparently stayed well beyond the 14 day limit and limited space for us.

Easily accessible. We’ve stayed here for 14 days. There are couple of spots which are fairly leveled. Its dusty here/ unpaved road. 1 hour from Salt Lake City.
Its getting little loud and busy on the weekends when locals come to play with their ATV’s. Good mobile and internet connection if u work from home.
