Be aware, this park is surrounded by a recent fire. Trees and vegetation completely burned. This was a controlled burn to help the pine trees survive. We stayed in the Sandhill loop and the outside sites had nothing but burnt forest around their sites. We were in the inside - site 10 and had live vegetation around our site, which I was thankful for. The Turkey Loop was also surrounded by the burn. The Lakeside loop is not affected by the burn and had lush vegetation around the sites- but the lake isn’t much of a lake.
It was a quiet campground, clean and had some nice hiking trails and the NICEST volunteer working the entrance booth, who was very informative and fun to talk to!

We stayed in the Sand Loop, which isn't named as you might think. The Sand Loop is actually the paved one; so book carefully if you prefer a paved loop. The Lake View Loop looked nice, too, but the road can be a bit bumpy. There's not a whole lot to do at this park, aside from hike the (gorgeous) trails. But that's its appeal. *The swimming area isn't somewhere I'd swim or let my little child swim - looks a bit alligator-ish to this Florida Mom. Overall we liked the park. The Loblolly Trail at dusk is fantastic; you'll see hidden streams and a few deer. Site 11 was a good one; I wouldn't want to camp on one of the interior sites on a loop. The outside numbered sites have a lot of privacy as they back up to a huge expanse that makes for a pretty sunset. *Pack groceries thoughtfully if you're not towing; there's very little shopping available nearby. Keystone Heights is about six miles away from the Ranger Station. Staff was nice. Bath house is very old but was very clean.

We walked the trails every day. Bathhouse was clean and a short walk from our unit. Camp hosts were friendly and walked through the loop daily. They do have a washer and dryer there but we did not use. Did not have any internet and the cell service was spotty. Very peaceful and relaxing 2 weeks.

There are two loops with electricity in the park. The Lakeview loop and the Sandhill loop. The Lakeview loop sites tend to be large with a few exceptions. Screening from your neighbors was hit or miss, but given the site size, not an issue. The parking pads are sand but I found ours to be reasonably level. I did like that it was close to a small lake and there were nearby sand roads to go hiking on. I took a bike ride through the Sandhill loop. One thing struck me. The sites are huge! I'm not sure I've ever seen a state park with sites that large.

We stayed over the week of Christmas. The staff at the Ranger's station was friendly and helpful. When I arrived at the loop I was camping in I discovered that it was a bit tight and a sand road. I backed into my site and using auto leveling it put one rear wheel off the ground.... Not as level as I would like. After setting up we were hit with a rain storm and the site basically had a stream running through it. When the rain stopped it was fine.
We had a great time that week and hiked many miles. There are well-marked trails all over the park. The day use area was excellent for picnics and such.
We had two large groups that were very loud and neither the rangers nor camp hosts seemed to be able to quiet them down. Not the fault of the park, but pretty annoying.
Once I got over the issue with sand being everywhere, I enjoyed the week. I would come back again, but wish there was some gravel, grass or concrete.
