“Stealing Money”

Be aware of the guy at the front counter. My wife went in the store to purchase something and he got talking to her to distract her attention and he did not give her back the change from the payment. We thought this could happen to anyone but on the second occasion 2 days later, we went in to pay to use the dump (which was $10 CAD) and we paid with a $20. He then got talking to us about he location to distract our attention, and then conveniently forgot to give us $10 back in change. And a third time a buddy we were traveling with went there to dump and when he came back to the campsite we asked him kind of jokingly if he received his change back when he paid to use the dump. He said he paid with a $20, then looked in his wallet and said, no, he didn’t get a $10 back. Not a coincident! This guy has a side hustle of keeping campers change and probably makes a good living stealing from those who come in to support him. If you have to use this facility, make sure you get your change back! The dump site is fine and has potable water… no issues there. We had to use it, It’s the only one within an hours drive.

“Locked dump located across a huge, pothole filled gravel area, must get key to open”

Private sanidump connected to the gas station. Dump is locked with a padlock that requires a key so you have to go to the log cabin type building beside the retail gas pumps to pay $10 and get the key first. Then drive across a huge gravel lot filled with potholes to get to the dump, then drive back to the log cabin to return the key. Dump is pricey at $10.
If you are heading south, there is a free municipal dump station with fresh water fill in Terrace at the visitor centre! If you are heading north, there is a free municipal dump in Watson Lake and you can get fresh water at the Watson Lake Visitor Centre.
