“Expensive, and unnecessary”

This was easy to access, and close to some great trails in the Mt. Hood area.

-No cell coverage once off of Hwy 26(Verizon)
-Sites are mostly for tents. Our 31' 5th wheel would have fit in 3-4 sites.
-$18/night, plus $8/car if you have a 2nd vehicle
-Pit toilet, and no other ammenities
-Plenty of free camping in the area off of forest roads.

Ultimately, we wanted a destination in mind to check out first, and once we had no cell reception, it was hard to communicate other options with the group. While it was a pleasant campground, we would have rather boondocked and saved the $.

This is a campground that we enjoy visiting every year because of it's proximity to several favorite hiking spots. This is an older campground on Mt. Hood and there's no water so you must have your own.

The sites are large and quite private as are most federal campgrounds on Mt. Hood although there is less ground foliage here than you would expect. The difference here is that there are no reservations and it is not nearly as busy as other campgrounds.

There's no cell service here, but a 5 mile drive down the road will connect you to Verizon LGE.
