“Very Nice Dispersed Camping”

We had no problems finding a spot and the road was very passable with a truck. Bathrooms were maintained and we liked how spaced out the sites were. Lots of fire damage in the vicinity but we were able to find a site away from it.

Very Secluded. I Only Stayed For A Day And A Half, But I Only Ever Saw One Person Drive Through and they didn’t stay the night. It Was Quiet Except For The Wildlife And Mostly Clean. Lots Of Space And Fire Pits And Picnic Tables At Each Site.

We are traveling and discovered the camping area with a quick Campendium search. (Thank you ‘two tired teachers’ for your excellent video review) We accessed the camping area via Cas Johnson road. The paved road does become a hard-packed dirt road, but was fine to drive on. We were able to locate a site that was very secluded and shaded; a bonus as it is HOT! We were able to use our generator to cool down the camper when we first arrived, (no neighbors to disturb) and as the evening progressed, it did cool off and we enjoyed the cool night air. The vault toilets were clean and obviously maintained. There was a picnic table and fire pit, but it was so hot, we did not spend much time outside. The only drawback was the yellow sticker-type burrs that stuck to everything….clothes, shoes, dog…which were a nuisance. There was no cell service where we camped, but a walk up the road did get us enough coverage to check in with family.

Great place to stay, and near the Flint Quarry. We actually stayed here and Fritch Fortress. We have a video explaining camping options in Lake Meredith National Recreation Area that explains the amenities at each campground: https://youtu.be/j5Ne-4MEHyc

The sites are spacious. This time of year I was the only camper in the area 4 of the 7 days.
Ironically, when the two other parties camped here, they did so right next to me. Hey, free camping is what it is sometimes……..
There was some ATT LTE service that was good enough for streaming low data streams, but it was a bit unpredictable.
I could call my friends and text with no problems.

The road was closed but we wen down becaue there was no blockages or work being done. We stayed 1 night. The next day a forestry guy came and asked us to leave and said there was no one at Sanford Yates. This place was secluded and quiet.
