Near freezing temps so electric but no water hook ups or bathroom/showers - only porta potties. Weekenders filled the riverside (sunnier) sites but plenty of room elsewhere. On line or one day at a time registration Mon-Thu Kiosk manned Fri-Sun. Some railroad noise, as usual. Plenty of ambling, cycling space.

We travel in a Class B and we’re able to convince the staff to let us take a tent site near the bathroom. We don’t need services so that was wonderful at $20/night. Dump & water on site. Highway & trains not an issue for one overnight.

Totally adequate state park directly on the Columbia. Perfect for traveling through the area which is beautiful driving. Pull through and back in sites, my pull though accommodated the 38 Class A and full size truck without unhooking which is always nice when you have been driving all day. It's winter so no water at the site, but available at the dump station - no sewer at the sites either. The interior road is very narrow, but no problems. As mentioned in other posts, there is a train track directly behind the campground, so the pull throughs towards the river are farthest away...but does it really matter. Between the highway across the river and the train, yes there is noise. It didn't bother us or wake us up. I would not camp here for peace and quiet and there are lots of other choices along the route, but we were happy to have power and a stress free stop over at zero cost thanks to Vet pass. The Maryhill winery and concert venue is a few minutes away up on the bluff with a bistro, pricey wines and a lovely view. Highly recommended and truck stop services are right across the river in sight - cheap diesel too. Great coverage on Verizon.

Some very interesting things around like a complete replica of Stonehenge and the state observatory in Goldendale.

“Easy access to Dump Station”
Reviewed 4/10/2022
Because the dump station across the river in Wasco, OR is CLOSED, we stopped in Maryhill State Park. The dump station is easy to access (without going through the campground); has potable water readily available, and costs $5. Excellent option to Wasco; even if you have to cross the mighty Columbia and then get back on the freeway...

In the RV loop, the perimeter sites are all pull through and the interior sites are back-in. The perimeter sites contain numerous boulders. I assume the State placed the boulders to prevent drivers from damaging the utility hookup pedestals; however, there are many boulders which are placed far from the pedestals. You need to be very careful when entering any of the campsites not to hit a boulder and damage your vehicle and/or RV. Even though the back-in sites do not have boulders, entering the site is not always easy because of boulders placed in front of the site. I inadvertently put a dent in one of my wheel covers when I hit a boulder while trying to back in to site 38. Because of the boulders, I do not recommend entering the campground after dark. The $10 rate reflects use of my off season senior pass available to Washington residents.

I imagine you can plan ahead and pay online but if you show up unannounced like we did, make sure you have exact change for the drop box payment system. There are a few large truck stops nearby w/ fast food if you need to make change. You'll hear engine brakes from the big trucks all night as they descend into the Columbia River Gorge but if you're weird like me, it might actually be soothing.

Got a spot when someone cancelled so it was off of the river but roomy. It was easy enough to park as it was a pull through. The site itself was a little dusty as it was during the summer dry spell. The sites on the interior and river were well maintained and had plenty of grass and shade. There is a boat launch, jet-ski rental and a very nice swimming area. There is no store at the camp so if you need something, I recommend going to Goldendale to one of the grocery stores.
I did stay there during the summer during a heat wave so I was thankful for my 2 AC units. When I was breaking down the day before we left it got to 105 and being from Western Washington, that was hot. After we broke down, we went to the Maryhill Winery and did a tasting and got a pizza to go. That winery has some of the best wines I have every sampled. While we were up at the winery, a storm came in from the south with high winds, when we arrived back at the campground, a couple of tents were blown that were not properly anchored and at least one trailer had it's awning torn off.
The staff at the park is awesome. After I parked, I noticed that a previous resident of the spot moved a large rock to where it would hinder my ability to pull out. I notified the host and he got his mule and moved it for us. Additionally, any time we wanted anything, they were very helpful.
I see a lot of posts about the noise and yes, there is noise, especially from Hwy 97 during the day from exhaust breaks on a steep incline. There is train noise as well, but trains have never bothered me.
Access to the park is very easy from I-84 and US 97. Being from the West Side of Washington, I probably will not go there in July/August again, but will make the trip again in 2021.
