Nice hiking trails a new boat ramp and kayak launch. Easy access to the river.
Would like to return when the weather is better to take our kayaks out.

Quick review of Martinak SP in Denton MD…. Stayed in Butterfly (electric) loop, site #7, for 5 days, cost for us old folks, less than $70 total… our site was open while there are sites that were quite wooded, most have some vegetation between them for a good separation. Looked like all the sites were very level, including the Acorn (non-electric) loop. On our loop, the first 3 sites were setup for tent only along with 2 cabins. The entire campground was less than ½ full, plenty of empty spots, never saw the office open and the board at the start of the loop said to make reservation on-line and to check in with the Q-code (which I didn’t do) … the clipboard indicated which sites were available and a self-check in envelope with drop-box for first night fee then to use the online system. The bath house was clean and modern. The trail around the Acorn loop was paved while the rest were not and not really marked, flier stated over 3 miles of trails. The boat ramp could handle trailered boats and a had launch for canoes/kayaks. Denton has a FoodLion, Aldi and Walmart, making this campground a great shakedown (first) camping trip. Would recommend this campground for a basic camping trip… a couple of slides, monkey-bars around the grounds, don’t expect the kids to be entertained except by the outdoors 😊

There was hot water for the showers and bathroom shower stalls had so much space for all the things. There was a very convenient sink on the back of the bathroom area to wash dishes. We did not have a water connection but the water spots were located everywhere for easy access. We had connection to electricity which was great as we had our dog & cat on the camper trailer. Right outside the campground area you can find many restaurants and stores where you can buy anything you need.
We did have very poor cellular service while on the campground.

We camped here in our fifth wheel (37'). Site had water and electric in a quiet corner of the loop. They had free music at the amphitheater on Saturday which overlooked the water. Very clean park with spacious sites that were very level.

We got an electric site in the A loop by asking the ranger when we arrived.
The boat ramp was being renovated which was a shame as the Choptank river looks beautiful. It’s supposed to be closed for a year.
There were some nice short trails for walking.

Overall the sites are level and shaded. site 18 was quite nice and private. Cell coverage with Verizon was spotty. We were about to make calls but internet was almost nil unless I lifted my device high up in the air. Don’t count on doing work at this park unless you have a tall pole and a directional antenna.

I spent two cold nights in mid-April 2021 during the middle of the week. I had been to Tuckahoe in the past and thought I'd checkout Martinak. I was impressed by how nice and well kept up it was. There are easy dirt rails one can follow along the water and through the trees. And there is a paved fitness trail that goes for a little over a mile. My site was fairly level and got a lot of shade. Other sites seemed nicely spaced apart. Loop B is for the electric sites. I never saw a host and perhaps there wasn't one. I never spoke with a Ranger or other employee though I did see them drive by several times. The price I paid includes the online reservation fee and my senior pass discount. I got a weak signal on both my Verizon and AT&T devices but good enough for online video calls. The bathrooms were clean but unheated. And the one in the B loop had the door stuck open making it even colder inside.

I was camping with a group of other families. We were all impressed by the diligence of the park staff re the cleanliness of the comfort station. I can honestly say that these were probably the best campground showers that I have ever used.
There is a workout trail, other short trails, and a small interpretive centre within the park. Groceries etc., are avail a short distance from the park.

They are angled so I could see site 5 and 6 from under my awning but the site is roomy and handicap assessible. The bath house sit back off road but is right across from the site. Although there are plenty of shaded sites this one has sun for about 6 hrs. There are also some cabins and a larger family cabin. If there is a Denton Vol Fire Dept breakfast or chicken dinner make sure you go get some of that yummy stuff!
