“Best in the area ”

I either couldn't find or couldn't access the other sites described in this area. This is a simple parking lot, clean pit toilets, a few other campers, felt safe. There was train noise however. The road from East Glacier/Two Medicine is beautiful but not something you want to drive in a hurry or in bad conditions: it winds up into the mountains and there's a lot of cattle/deer.
Overall this was the very best in the area for me and will plan on staying here in the future. Other places in the area were very disappointing.

Summit charges $20 basically for a fire pit and a picnic table. One of the campsites is less than 15 yards from this parking lot. We spoke with a Forest Ser... more

We spoke with a Forest Service employee, she said we could stay overnight but campfires were not allowed.
This is located at the southern end of Glacier NP. It’s about 18 miles to Two Medicine Lake entrance, 49 miles from West entrance and about 50 miles from St Mary’s entrance.
Each night we were there about 5 other vehicles joined us. Quiet place road noise diminishes after 9 pm. One can hear the train but it didn’t really bother us. Nice place to walk your dog.
Crabby Couple would stay here again

This rest stop is a “bit” off the freeway, pit toilets and trains across the highway.
