We loved this place! We had a little caravan group and had no trouble finding an area big enough. The skies are breathtaking at night. Most of the area is pretty level however there are quite a few sites that have ground hornets so we’d suggest scoping out before choosing a site.

It seems like there are only spots in the first few miles of the road but once you start driving up the mountain you’ll find more, further apart. In fact, I am writing this review from higher up the mountain and I saw a bear here this morning! Just saying, they’re here!

Place was very clean. 2 to 3 bars of Verizon reception. Enough to watch Netflix or YouTube.

There was more road noise than I would expect for a site in a National Forest (but not too bad) and any views from our particular site were non-existent, although I imagine if you travel further up the road you’ll find some. The night sky was beautiful and fellow campers friendly and respectful. Great cell service for working remotely. Clean sites- didn’t see a single scrap of trash!

This set of dispersed sites are amazing!! Each one is separated by woods and boulders to keep privacy. I work remotely and love taking weeks to go camp and work in the woods. GOOD cell service is very important to get my work done using my mobile hotspot and this campsite has GREAT reception. And it’s BEAUTIFUL

We camped here for a week and loved staying here in our 30' fifth wheel. Colorado dirt roads are great and this place is no exception. Great Verizon and ATT signal, able to work out here.
We took the first spot on the left about a half mile down the main dirt road and it was huge with plenty of privacy. The best sites are if you go right when you get to the first intersection along the dirt road (about a mile down) and then go right again at the second dirt road. There aren't many sites back in this area, but you can park and quickly scout out a spot before going down the last dirt road I mentioned.
There aren't any good sites for trailers over 15' feet if you keep going down this dirt road at the first intersection.
There are cows that may end up at your campsite, but they are harmless. There isn't much shade either unless you're tent camping.
We could easily drive 25 min into Durango or 25 min to Mesa Verde National Park.
