We reserved our site on Reserve America about two months prior to our arrival. The campground is in a rural setting and the GPS does get confused on it's entrance. There is the entrance to the day use area and one to the campground. The campground entrance is paved into the campground. Check in was flawless and they gave out a map and info on the park, including rentals, firewood and rules!! There are three "loops" to the campground.
Loop 1 is near the reservoir with some sites right on the water. None of the sites have any electric, water or sewer hook ups just a fire ring and a picnic table. The roads are stone and gravel. Most of the sites are uneven but are good size, with tree cover so solar may not be the best. There is a main bath house with flush toilets and showers. There is also outside area with plugs to charge devices.
Loop 2 is on the main paved road in and is paved through out. These sites have 30 amp electric only, no water or sewer hook ups but there is a fire ring and picnic table. The sites in this area can be a maze....some have no defining entry way!! So when backing in have a spotter because it's very easy to back your rig into a tree. If its not hard to back in....then your site is wickedly unlevel. Our tongue jack was all the way up while our rear jacks were all the way down. Sites are close with no privacy.
Loop 3 is past loop 2...just drive straight thru until the pavement ends!! Loop 3 has no electric, water or sewer hook ups but yes on picnic table and a fire ring. There is a bath house that has toilets' and showers. The sites here seem much more level and larger.
Water spigots are located throughout the park, dump station just off the main road, the playground area is near loop 2. The day use area has a beach on Davis Pond, kayak rentals, a pavilion, a nature trail and a rec field. A store about two miles from the park is great...has all sorts of ready made food. We have Verizon service and had 1-2 bars depending where we were sitting.
Now for the bad! Clearly this is a locals park...obnoxiously loud generator in loop 1 ran most of the day, another site the folks there tied theirs dogs to a tree and left while the dogs barked all day & evening!!! Speeding thru the park was constant, people blatantly encroaching onto their neighbors site with gazebo tents and loud music into the night. The caretaker did nothing.....none of the staff said or did anything. Our neighbors were great people and we all agreed that the locals ran the park. We would not return here!!!

Macomb Reservation State Park is close to Plattsburgh, NY. Your camping pass should give you free access to Cumberland Bay State Park on Lake Champlain. The access to the park is on country roads.
The park is situated on a small reservoir. The day use area is across the water from the campground. There are two camping section. The largest is situated under pine trees, which are randomly placed in the site. Sometime it is hard to tell where your site begins and where it ends. The sites also vary in width. There is no vegetation screening between sites and many of the sites are close together.
We had Site 84, which is listed for a 30-foot trailer. We have a 24-foot trailer and only 8 feet wide. The only spot we could back our trailer into was next to our neighbor and we wouldn’t have been able to put out our awning. We asked for another site.
We were offered a site in the other loop near the water, which is grassy, but has shade at most of the sites. Again there was no real screening between sites on the lawn. The width of the sites varied and some were too close to other sites. There were many waterside sites and most of the other sites had water views.
This is a very popular campground for families and children. There were large groups at many of the sites. It was fairly quiet in our area, but during the day we had to listen to the neighbor’s radio at times and someone ran their generator during non–generator hours.
Since rain was moving in, we only stayed one of our three nights. We would not return, since the reservoir was very small and paddling was limited. We like more spacing between campsites, especially if there is no screening.
We used our booster we provided 2 bars of Verizon service.
