We arrived mid-September hoping to camp at Trumbull Lake CG, but after driving up there with our 32’ fifth wheel and scouting the CG we determined we probably wouldn’t fit. It was also after a few days of rain/snow and things were super shady and cold. So we went back down the road a bit. Campsites start around 0.5 miles in (there is one spot closer to the road but the majority are further down). There is a large dirt pullout on the left side of the road (if you’re heading into Virginia Lakes) a little before the turnoff for this road. We parked there and scouted the road. Glad we did- it’s one lane and pretty tight with trees, but we determined we could make it to at least site 1 where the trailer would fit. After getting it there we walked the rest of the road (about another mile) and found a nicer site (23). The road does have a turnaround at the end, otherwise no place to turnaround unless you pull/back into a site. A handful of the 24 sites could have worked for us, and really any size trailer but the road in is the limiting factor. There were 4-5 other campers each night, no road noise, and overall felt very secluded. Would definitely stay here again, but recommend scouting the road if you’re a larger rig. Site 4 is the first of the really large sites.

The sites are awesome! Plenty of space nestled beneath a pine canopy and right by the creek. Bear boxes are provided which was really nice. There was a bit of traffic in and out but only one after dark. We did have a strange encounter which i feel the need to mention. Being from out of state and not knowing anything about this campground except for what’s on this app, I can only speculate. Soon after we arrived and began to set up camp, and older gentleman on a dirt bike pulled into our site and without introduction or greeting began to pick up trash that was left on our site and mumbling about people leaving trash. He did this for about ten minutes then drove away. We commented on how strange that was but kept setting up. then he came back about 15 minutes later. Again parked right in our site (while there were plenty of empty sites around us) and only this time seemed to be pretending to keep busy randomly carrying wood and walking around. Our best guess was he was some sort of campground host with zero social skills or a local sizing us up. Either way, he cleaned our site and then we never saw him again so we had a lovely night.

Spend one night here mid August. Recent bear activity in the area, but I didn’t see him. Right next to the creek which was super nice to fall asleep to! No service here with spectrum.

We came in last week and stayed for 7days. We found a site so close to the stream. There is a site next to us but no one there for last 6 days. There are some big site for big family to reunion. There is a site close to us but no one there so we are by ourself. The site is clean, nice with mostly shade, no noices except for some cars in and out. I don't know abt others but I love the ambient sound of the stream and some bird song.
I have to mention this, the host couple was out of this world, they are very friendly, helpful and formost, they keep the vault toilet so clean (best vault toilet I've experienced), no trash or anything on site. If I could I'll make 6 star for the host.
Only one down side is pollen. This time of the year, they covered my care, tent and cooking stuffs with visible layer. But that's how we battle allergy. 🤫
I would love to go back if I'll be around this area. Mono Lake close by, June Lake loop only 1/2 hr away, and especially, Virginia Lake and trailhead is a must to hike and fishing.
That's all I can put. Experience for yourself.
