Overall Rating
This campground (and Upper Little Truckee, which are both managed by the same camp host) are directly off of 89, about 15 minutes north of Truckee. The campgrounds are squeezed between the Little Truckee River and highway 89. Sites close to the river in Upper Little Truckee have better access and views than those in Lower Little Truckee. Still, the highway noise and mostly open exposure in these campgrounds makes for a disappointing camping experience on site. Access to the Little Truckee is limited.
As a bouncing off point for hiking, biking, and Truckee area experiences, it's not bad when everything else is booked up. But I wouldn't recommend these as a destination camping experience or when anything else in the area is available.
