Stayed in the last (fourth) open camping loop before the end of the road...the pit toilet is in this loop. Rolled in with 28' TT and had no issues getting in and out...the road is in great shape aside from some rain induced potholes, and plenty of sites with the space needed. If you pass the last loop, there's nowhere to easily turn around with a trailer. We camped for 4 days prior to July 4th, so the campground was completely full by Friday night. Noise levels weren't bad, and expected given the holiday weekend. Easy river access from the loops, some with their own small beach. Plenty of sun or shade sites depending on what you want, and scattered sites on the other side of the road from the river if you want a little seclusion. There is ZERO cell service here... you have to travel a few miles out to get a bar. Overall a great place to go for hiking or fishing, or just relaxing. Our site (which was only 75' from the bathroom) was full of sh*t and toilet paper in the bushes, and about 5 dirty diapers. What is wrong with people?! After a gloved and masked site cleanup, it was great. Just a note.... this entire place is very much a locals spot. We had no issues, and people were friendly....lots of kids playing. Keep in mind if you like to start crap with people that most of the others in the campground will know each other. Treat others the way you want to be treated and you'll enjoy it.

Loved this area, great hiking, great campsites. But... drove in from Bear Heaven without my camper to make sure there were available spots. Found a nice one, left some my chair, cooler, cooking grill, box of camp gear. Went back to get load my camper on. On the way back on Sully Rd., passed the three vehicles (SUV's with roof top tents) that had been camped in the near the site I had claimed. Found my meager possessions missing. Dead end road, so only one way in and out. Asked around, no one had seen any one on the road but myself and these miscreants. Have never been stolen from camping in 40 odd years. Lost my wallet on the New River area once and it beat me home. Someone found it and shipped it UPS. What kind of people rob other campers.

We decided to try our hand at boondocking for a couple of nights. I have to say that we loved it. The dispersed camping area was not crowded and was easy to find a good spot close to the river. It is still a little cool at night so maybe it will be more populated this summer. Everyone else camping seemed to be friendly, stayed to themselves and there were a lot of individuals fishing. Camper and fishing etiquette was good. The roads to the area are a little narrow and the turn into the camping area was very sharp; but, we navigated it with no problem. The site we were on was level and dry. Make sure to bring water with you as there is none on site unless you count the river. If you have a generator for your RV or camper it will help. The only negative I have is the vault toilets near our site were extremely messy and dirty. It could not be used. The forest rangers came the next day though and gave it a thorough pressure washing on the inside.

TONS of fishermen. They will go straight through your site and be everywhere. Excellent river access to lounge in. It’s clean enough to drink or do dishes with. Just use biodegradable soap please. Fire pits available. First come first serve. Some tent only sites. No tables. Pit toilets. No reception for miles. Take your trash with you
