We arrived at 9:30pm and couldn’t even see the campsite. Woke up to unreal views of the morning dessert and surrounding rocks. Road is a little rough getting back to the sites, would recommend 4x4.

Got lucky and found the last spot on a Friday afternoon. Spacing is perfect to maintain a secluded feeling. Stars are insane.

I didn't actually make it all the way to the campsite. I saw a review down below that said, oh, you can just zoom in coming around the back going the long way. Well, you will face some rock ledges in the road and that kind of thing if you attempt that. I very carefully and painfully made it about 9 mi down the road from the back entrance on highway 313 and got close to the campground, but was stopped dead by some big drop offs in the road and high clearance truck folks telling me it probably wasn't a very good idea for me to continue. I most definitely did not see any trailers coming in from this way.
Note that this was in a 2x4 truck with just regular clearance, not high clearance. There were plenty of Jeep type vehicles that were taking the road just fine.
Also, if you do decide to chance it, take the Metal Masher road cut off instead of the Gemini Bridges road when you get that option about a third of the way in from highway 313. It bypasses part of Gemini Bridges road that has a lot of rock ledges to go over.

Definitely recommend you brave the bumps of Gemini bridges to get to this campsite. Sites filled up quickly on a week day and we had lots of people turning around in our camp because they couldn’t see the trailer from the road. The road is sand and can get washed out. Sound does carry (I sneezed and it echoed down the canyon) so leave your music off! Also BLM requires you to bring a portable toilet! You can’t just dig a hole.

There is a sign near the entrance that says “no Parking or camping beyond this point” and that’s flat out a lie… it only applies to the short distance of private property. Go past turn left go up and over the canyon about 5 miles to designated spots

Spent the night here 07July. Got in around 6 PM and was the only person at this place. I was expecting more people as the night went on but no one else showed up so I had the place all to myself! Made it in fine with my Crosstrek.

We ended up at Willow Springs because the reviews let us think it was the most treacherous ever. It's not. We probably could have made the way from the 191 in with out 25 foot truck and 25 foot popup trailer. But now I know you can avoid the steep narrow part by just taking the 313 instead, which anything could make, even a 40 foot bus. Next time I'll be staying here. So bummed the reviews let me think that it was so crazy. It's only about 3 miles of cliffs if you enter from the 191.
