We loved how close this spot was to the interstate and was a great way to take a rest a day or two before going into California. We arrived at night and ended up having to make a 8 point turn in someone's spot because we didn't see the spot was occupied when we turned into it. The camper there were very friendly and helped us navigate out. We ended up finding another spot that fit our 30' TT comfortably. I do think the area is very popular and some people seem to use it as a long term living spot. Also evidence of trash from parties. We went in late December 2020 and were able to find 2 or 3 open spots for our rig. The water is right beside you and the levee is great for a morning walk. For a free site I can't complain much.

Depending on where you want to camp, you can drive in n the dirt road for over 10 miles. Cell signal isn't bad if you have a booster and it varies depending on where you camp. There are a few sites right on the water giving you beachfront access - prime real estate - But most sites aren't quite so pretty, and they are along a very dusty road.
Military jets fly over quite often, which is actually very cool to watch. If you love the water and can get a spot right on the water, this is a great place to stay for awhile.

So much trash! This little corner of America is not great because people don't clean up after themselves. This is how landfills start. River is beautiful. Wildlife is great, some road kill but that's the cycle of life.

After travelling down a 12 mile washboard road, I was able to secure a little spot between the Colorado river and a tributary. The great news is that I caught small and large mouth bass in the tributary. This was the last week of February. The bad news is you had to share the area with off road vehicles and they are having fun zipping down the roads kicking up alot of dust. Soooooo, fish or dust? I chose fishing. Cell phone is spotty. I had Verizon usually with 1-2 bars. But it worked.

There are places to camp right on the Colorado river as well as the tributary that flows. We prefer the tributary because it’s big enough for my wife to paddle around on her SUP.

I had a day trip here w my family it’s about a 20 min drive from the freeway exit. There are no amenities unless you go back to the fwy there are restaurants and stores there. The road is paved dirt with rocks covering it not a bad drive. Great views of the water. Saw a couple deer.

Should have realized after the first mile south of Ehrinberg that the road was going to be very rough on 37' Class a pulling a trailer. Kept driving to find that site by the water so we could kayak but only found a couple that were occupied. This road is good for truck/camper, campervan or the like. Took 1 1/2 hours to go about 11 miles. We had hoped to cross the river via the New Cibola Bridge which was 3 miles south of where we had camped. Talked to a fellow camper who advised that there were 3 washouts further south that he would drive me to to check before proceeding. Good thing, one was really steep and the others had deep loose gravel that I felt I would get stuck in, so turned around and drove the 11 miles back to Ehrinberg. Nice private spot but definitely not big rig friendly. The river itself was running too fast to bother putting kayaks in. Had good cell service but don't remember with who.

Fire pit ready to go for me. A small trail down to a beautiful 50 foot sand beach. The farming on the California side was no bother. Light traffic down the road but nothing to complain about. There are sites that people might be forced to enter to find out you were occupying them but I was visible from the road and no one even came close. Another great spot!!!

We used to come here once a year...Nowadays there is trash all over. People dont seem to pack any trash out. It seems like a lot of drug runners coming up from Mexico pass through this route. Lots of suspect cars and gunshots close by at night. The people that pass by in cars look super suspicious and do not seem to be campers or day trippers if you catch my drift. Sharp gravel roads have claimed my tires a couple times. ZERO cell reception and ridiculously hot temperatures. There are much better places an hour + north of here. Save your time and money and go elsewhere !!
