I lived in the area of Mille Lacs Lake (Worked in Garrison and lived in Brainerd) in a previous life. Knew of the park and this was a first. I enjoyed it very much!
The Park is located next to the town of Isle. It has hardware store, grocery store, a bakery, liquor store, a couple bars, with a couple gas stations and a Dollar General down the road. You could pretty much find anything you may have left behind.
The park is well maintained. The ranger station is down the road from the entrance. There are 2 campgrounds with power (Lake View with 51 and 9 at Maple Grove). I was in lot 52 at Lake View and had close access to water, showers and flush toilets. Pit toilets were nearby as well.
Shower/flush toilets are cleaned every day at 10am and are pretty clean through the day. There is a HOST on site that sells firewood as well as the ranger station. Lake access for boats with a beach further down the entrance road. Fishing docks for those without boats.
The lots have plenty of room for putting out your CLAM awning and attached screen room. Permanent fire ring and picnic table at each site. The ground on some sites are not very level and I had to use all my leveling blocks for my site to get close to being level (almost a foot up).
Pretty much quiet for a fully booked campground that weekend.

Beautiful trees, great lakeside camping, clean bathrooms and showers, friendly rangers, fishing, swimming beach, all sorts of goodies to buy in the ranger station, the only thing this park lacks is long trails to hike. I loved it.

A very nice well kept small SP with good boating access to the southeast end of this famous lake.
C/G is not overly big, but sites are well spaced and not too heavily treed. Pads are gravel, roadway asphalt. This could be a very busy place on summer weekends or during school summer vacation periods.
I am not a big fan of SP camping because of costs relative to value received compaired to NF, NP, BLM and COE camping. This c/g is an exception with the above caviets.
Last time we were here was 9/10/01 and here was nobody around the office to check us out. It took us several hours down the road to realize what was going on in NYC and DC. We returned 9/29/15 and the memory still hurts!
