I can't believe I didn't leave a review while staying here. We really enjoyed our stay at Lake Manatee. We were visiting friends in Bradenton which this state park is minutes from. Big private sites. We were here in June so the park was barely half full. There are nice trails throughout the park. And the bath/shower house was clean and well maintained. The dump station is perfectly placed to let er rip on the way out. For a full review check out my YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrEKMiVkJlM

We stayed at Lake Manatee State Park for just 2 nights (over a weekend, that's important) in early May. This is a small park with just 60 sites, just about 2 miles of short hiking trails and a big lake. You're able to access the trails right off the back of the outer loop campsites, which was nice, and I enjoyed my morning walks. I saw some animal tracks (maybe bobcat), some turtles, and there were still a few spring flowers blooming. Most of the trails are open to the sun, so go early. The sites are nicely spaced and spacious. I did not use the bathhouse, so I can't speak to it's cleanliness.
On the downside, this park is very close to a drag racing strip and over this weekend we could hear it very loudly. That would certainly deter me from ever coming here again, unless I wanted to camp close by to go to the drag races. There isn't much to do unless you have a small boat (low powered motors only).
Price reflects $22/night camping fee, plus 6.70 'reservation fee', plus &7/night 'utility' fee.

We did not have any bugs; there are a couple of trails to walk/bike. We camped in a truck camper on RAM 3500 DRW and had room in our site (42)
Staff great. Restrooms good. Verizon strength varied but fine for what we had to do.
Do check the calendar for races on the motorsports website before going

We were here in July so I think there was only scaled-down activity at the nearby racetrack. While we did hear some noise it wasn't bad at all, though I could see it being a nuisance if there was a full slate of racing activity going on.

Have waited six months into our RV life to start reviews for fair comparisons. Spent 4 nights. Really liked this park, but not our site. Was bordered by the camp road and the bike/walking path so often noisy with no sense of privacy. Bad mosquitoes, but to be expected. And our only site in six months that had noticeable litter- food waste, random trash, etc. On the positive side, we did have a resident armadillo who visited every night and provided hours of entertainment. The sites on the outside of the loop looking out into nature, even right across the road, looked wonderful! And honestly, we were grateful we could even get in during the holiday season with fairly late booking. Good walking/“hiking”/running trails around the park. Good for dog walking. Loved the day use area and water views. Great day trips into Sarasota and nearby beaches. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the drag racing across the street.

Electric and water hookups are in the middle of sites rather than at the back. Quick check-in. Paved roads, great for walking, sandy / dirt sites. Large oak trees with spanish moss on many sites. The two loops are connected to each other and the day use area on the lake by paved walks, very nice touch. No beach at lake, more for boating than swimming. Bathrooms looked clean but I did not use them. Book well in advance. No stores in the area, must drive to Bradenton. My rate was the Florida senior resident rate. I will return.

We enjoyed paddling our canoe on the lake and hiking the short trails around the property. Saw many types of birds, a gopher tortoise and an armadillo. It’s about an hour to get to the coastal beaches from here and 15 minutes to the nearest grocery store. Unable to stream anything with AT&T but oodles of over the air channels.
