Overview of Lake Louise Hard-Sided Trailer Campground
A camping permit and park pass, valid for the length of stay, are required. Please display your camping permit in a visible location. Campers must register (at kioskor self-registration) with their camping unit prior to setting up camp.
A fire permit is required for each night you have a fire.
ALL soft-sided units (tents, tent-trailers, and units with soft-sided pop-outs) MUST camp in the Lake Louise soft-sided campground and stay within an enclosed electric fence, due to seasonal bear activity.

Easy check in. Campground is one long straight shot with buddy sites. Dump station has multiple lanes and this is where you fill up with potable water also. Sites have 30/50 amp and nice picnic table. We did not have a fire pit ring. Site accommodated our 36ft fifth wheel fine. Multiple bathrooms throughout campground that are very cle... more

Sites have 30/50 amp and nice picnic table. We did not have a fire pit ring. Site accommodated our 36ft fifth wheel fine. Multiple bathrooms throughout campground that are very clean. Only one shower house that is closer to the entrance. Free shuttle service to Lake Louise Village. Trains came by all day and through the night and were loud. Nice river with hiking path just behind the campground.

You basically have no choice for lake Louise and an RV, but this campsite is nice. Electric only and only some sites have fire rings (but free firewood). All pull through sites that are all shared. Do not get the single sites! They are right next to the trash and or the bathrooms.
Starlink coverage was good.AT&T ok for phone calls.

Surprisingly, there are few other campers here. Nice large, level, gravel, pull-through site. Electricity is on the picnic table side, so we needed an extension cord. No fire pit at our site, sites on other side of campground have them. There is a train nearby, but it was subtle. Free shuttle bus to village and lake shore. We are surrounded by mountains, but the mountains around the lake are magnificent. Frozen lake, frozen water falls, beautiful. Huge château a few minutes along path with nice restaurants.

We are actually camping there and we really enjoy the winter camping! There's a dump station (if your equipment is not frozen), electricity hookup and you can manage fill up the clear water tank at the shower building. As there is few to none campers, it's magically quiet. Except for the train passing by sometimes.

This is the only option for camping in Lake Louise. It is a HUGE campground divided between hard-sided and tents. The tent section is surrounded by an electric fence to keep the bears out. This is the only option for camping in Lake Louise. It is a HUGE campground divided between hard-sided and tents. The tent section is surrounded by an electric fence to keep the bears out. The hard-sided area is not - campers are given a list of 'rules' to help keep the bears away (no food out, grills stored, nothing left outside that smells.)
You don't come to this campground to hang out for the view. While it is between a river and a train track, you won't see the river from any of the sites. But there is a nice path to walk into the village.
Each site (with a few exceptions) is a double site - so you are within a few feet of your neighbor. We actually found ourselves so close we could hear our neighbors walking around their RV. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, and 30 amp electric.
Bathrooms are located around the campground and only one building has a shower. Bathrooms and the shower building are newer and in good shape. From our site at the end of the campground, it was a mile to get to the showers.
The dump station is old, filled with potholes and in need of an overhaul.
You must LOVE trains - as you will be hearing braking trains and whistles noises all day and night. It felt as though we parked on the tracks.
A free shuttle is available at the entrance to the campground. However, it only drops you off at the park and ride outside of town, where you get in line to ride another bus. Lines at peak summer times can run 1-2 hours for popular sites.
Of course, the park is amazing and we loved hiking and seeing the sights. We also stayed in Jasper and Banff and much preferred Tunnel Mountain over Lake Lousie. If we make it back to Banff, we will stay at Tunnel Mountain as the buses, views, and spacing between rigs is actually better.

We stayed at this awesome campground during the fall after the main visitor season was over. We were able to come in without reservations, and the place was probably filled at 25% capacity. We stayed at this awesome campground during the fall after the main visitor season was over. We were able to come in without reservations, and the place was probably filled at 25% capacity. Our only issue was that many of the spots are double spots, and they parked just about every camper right next to someone else rather then giving each their own space. It wasn't a big deal for us as the other camper was in a truck camper and they were gone all the time until the evening, and left early. Power at each site, and we had cell service. I was able to put lots of miles on my bike, and even rode the old train track trail up to the lake, and had a very fast ride back down. If its the main visitor season, don't expect to find a spot here without reservations from everything I've been told. We used this as a basecamp as we went and explored Yoho NP, and the town of Banff. Do your grocery shopping in Banff, as the grocery store at Lake Louise is about the most expensive I've encountered. Banff also has a great dog park which we highly recommend.

We stayed here 4 nights in late august of 2017 on site 8. As already posted, the sites are side by side, 2 sites in an opening. And that is not evident when looking at a map of the campground. We stayed here 4 nights in late august of 2017 on site 8. As already posted, the sites are side by side, 2 sites in an opening. And that is not evident when looking at a map of the campground. The map leads you to think that even numbers are on one loop. and odd numbers are on another loop. Not the case. We were expecting to be next to site 6 but were next to site 7. Not a bad thing. Just a surprise. There was a fire ban when we stayed there.
The campground is easy to find with easy access off Canada 1. The sites are gravel and mostly level. The hookups are on the opposite side, unless you turn your camper around. Then your door opens toward your neighbor. The campground was full but still very quiet. There was wifi at the visitors center in town. Lots to see in the area. There is a gravel bike path around the campground that also goes into town.
The CN mainline runs next to the campground. Probably 10 trains a day, each direction. If being awakened several times a night doesn't sound like fun, try to get as far away from the entrance as possible. It may be quieter. If you are a train buff, a few miles away is Kicking horse pass with 2 spiral tunnels.
Any sightseeing needs to be started early. The crowds were unbelievable.
We had no cell service due to no contract outside US.

If you want to stay here in high season (June thru Sept) you MUST have a reservation which needs to be done on-line via Parks Canada. However, we were here in mid-Oct and it was almost vacant. If you want to stay here in high season (June thru Sept) you MUST have a reservation which needs to be done on-line via Parks Canada. However, we were here in mid-Oct and it was almost vacant. In the summer months I believe it would be not so peaceful. This is a very touristy area and would be quite busy and, I imagine, noisy during the high season.
Electrical hook-ups only. Potable water is available from a small room in the bathhouse and you can pull your trailer alongside and hook your hose directly to the tap. Dump station on site as well.
Site parking is in groups of 2 so you are parked close to your neighbour on the gravel; however, on your site there is a decent spot for picnicking, fires (but you need to pay extra in order to have a fire). Often in the summer months there is a ban on fires due to the high risk of wildfires.
Washrooms were decently clean, showers were hot (but why do so many parks insist on those terrible, harsh, wide-spraying showerheads that make you feel as though you are being pin-pricked to death??!?!??!).
There is a train track running very close to the campground so if that would annoy you, stay away.
No cell service of any kind up here if that is important to you.
All in all, a decent spot. Beautiful view of the Rockies and a short drive up to see the awesome Lake Louise is well worth a trip. And hey, you can't beat the beauty of Banff National Park....
