I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel and parked in site #50 which is a back-in spot. This is a dry campground and there is no dump station available here. I used another park further down the road to dump. Roads and sites were gravel. It was very tight manuvering around the park. 35’ is the max I would think about taking in there and that was even on the big side for the majority of the spaces. Lots of clean pit toilets throughout the CG. I didn’t use the water spigots, but they didn’t have threads to fill RV tanks so come with water. Site #50 is in a overflow area which made it easier to park my rig since it is more of an open parking area and no edges between the sites. I did need to use one board under one side to get level. Lots of old fallen trees in the woods which my cats loved exploring and my picnic table and fire pit were tucked in behind some large trees making it very private. The site is pretty heavily shaded which made getting sun to my solar panels a challenge. No cell signal, wifi or OTA. The CG has good proximity to some of the major areas of Olympia NP – Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rainforest, Rialto Beach and the Sol Duc area. I would go back there again with a smaller rig.

The camp host was great. Campground was very clean, only negative was the flushable toilets were out of service for maintenance so we had to use the vault instead. Close to Forks and Lake Crescent and right off the highway (but no noise).

Drove to the campground since first come no reserve basis and front gate is closed no explanation. Looks like maintenance maybe? Love this park and was sad. Put us in a pickle to find another campground but was able to get in Saltwater Creek Rec Area.

Saturday and Sunday nights in mid-August so not a lot of camping options. This camp doesn't take reservations but works on "first come, first served." Excellent, just what we need.
Arrived around noon so plenty of options to choose from. Picked a nice site with the river behind us (forgotten the number as it was 3 days ago) and spent the days fishing (without success), reading, walking around the camp and one of the trails and chatting to neighbours. Very relaxing in amongst the trees.
Saturday night the camp was full so, according to the Camp Host, a couple of RVs used 2 of the 4 overflow parking spaces.
Only drawback - No cellphone coverage

Klahowya Campground, Clallam County, WA. Klahowya (a common word for "welcome" in the Chinook jargon) is unique among the campgrounds on the Olympic Peninsula because it is not part of the National Park System, but part of the friendlier and less restrictive US Forest Service. And it really is very welcoming, with its old growth forest and a very pretty section of the Sol Duc River. Best of all, you can can actually take your dogs on the hiking trails. No "Klahowya" for you, National Park System. For more info, contact http://campeverycountywa.com/clallam-county.html
