“Should Have Brought A Weed Wacker.”

US Forest service should invest in a weed wacker. Half the spots were so overgrown that you had to walk through just so you knew exactly where to back in. I couldn’t even use the picnic bench at my spot, #9. I had to stomp the grass and create a path just open my camper door.

We stayed in site 6 in our 29 foot motorhome. About half of the sites would be adequate for a 35 foot motorhome, though you may need blocks to help you level. You could hear the traffic noise from highway. Only one other camper besides us, a few people drove through just touring or to use the vault toilet. There was a working hand pump for water. No trash collection. $15. No Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T. Lots of Canada thistle(bad).

A basic FS loop campground with 10 total sites. There was FS information on the kiosk board telling what has happened here. Due to a root fungus in the evergreen trees, the trees had started to fall over. Due to this danger the FS went in and cut all the trees down for safety reasons. They replanted the campground with new trees but it will be years before they are tall enough to make shade. In the meantime the campground has been overtaken by low shrubbery, wildflowers, wild raspberries, and weeds. It’s obvious this campground doesn’t get lots of use. There were a total of three campers the night I was there. There is a nice creek flowing along the side of the campground and that is where I made the best of it sitting on my camp chair in the shade listening to the creek while I read a good book.

This camp sees few visitors - all of the trees were clear cut out of the camp so there is no shade anywhere. All of the sites are overrun with weeds. I imagine somewhere under the weeds there were tables and fire rings. There were a few concrete posts marking out the roads as well so back up with caution if you stay here, anything could be lurking in the weeds! The bathrooms were clean-ish but are old and rundown. Lots of swampy looking areas around the camp as well so I'd imagine mosquitoes would be a huge problem most of the summer. I passed this up and hoped to find something better further down the road.
