You can even do part of the north country trail if you want to and see sheep, cows and horses! Prairie dogs are everywhere too.

Over 4 mile drive on a gravel road to get here. Small area and very quiet. Close to the North Country trailhead, so there’s great hiking nearby. No amenities other than a pit toilet and water spigot.

Very quiet, one camper/hiker occupying one site when we arrived, but must be out on trail. Trailhead and parking lot located just outside campground entrance. County 4 is gravel road, as well as 23. There are at least 5 pull through sites, we chose one in the sun for solar and a little warmth. Campground is free Nov 1-May 1. There are 4 sites in the center of the loop that arent highly visible, all back in. 12 is opposite the parking for the water pump. 13-15 are on an unmarked dirt track before the loop turns. 12 backs up to one of sites 13-15, so would be good if you were camping with another couple, otherwise it’s really close to the public water. However, in mid-May we have not seen another soul. Most are heavily shaded, however there are a few on the loop that are good for solar. Sites are fairly level side to side, but slope a good 2” or more front to back. Did not use the pit toilets.

We really enjoyed our stay at this campground. We stayed Sunday-Wednesday and there were no more than two or three other campers there during our stay. The campground was quiet with the exception of the cows that graze in the field. The cows were fun to watch as they would parade back and forth past our campsite on the other side of the fence. The sites here aren't terribly big and being a prairie there isn't a whole lot of tree cover and thus little privacy between spaces. However the sites had decent spacing between them. Our site was a pull through site, however it wasn't far off the campground road. The mowed area of the campsite wasn't terribly big but it was adequate for our needs. The lack of tree cover did provide good solar chargin for our batteries. We liked the location as it was away from just about everything which made it quiet and peaceful. As for cell service we generally had one to two bars of verizon LTE. However the data seemed to be somewhat unreliable. For TV we got four channels.

Camped here in late August 2020. Clean, quiet campground with picnic table & iron fire ring/grill at each site. Partial shade. Friendly campers. Hand pump well water. Easy trail, but didn’t see much wildlife. Lots of flies. I would stay here again. See my video review on YouTube. Riding with Stymie

If you are arriving from the north, I would recommend taking Hwy 18 through Leonard to minimize the distance traveled on gravel roads. There is one bridge on the north side of the campground with a 13 ton limit. The nearest gas station is about 30 minutes away, so it would be best to stock up on food and gas before heading to the campground.
Jorgen's Hollow is a well-maintained "horse friendly" campground with about 15 spots for various size campers. There are two vault toilets, a hand pump for water and each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit with grill. The US Forest Service employee mowing was very friendly and stopped to ask us if we needed anything. Currently, there is no fee for camping, but usually it is $10 per night.
We camped in our 35' fifth wheel and selected spot #7 because it was a pull-through site. We found out later that most of the pull-through sites are designated as "horse friendly" and campers without horses are asked to select "horse prohibited" sites if they are available. This wasn't a big deal during the week since only four sites were occupied each night, but on the weekend campers with horses began arriving.
It was a very unique experience to have so many horses staying in and riding through the campground! Waking up in the morning to the site of multiple horse tied up outside our camper was very cool and their riders were extremely friendly and accommodating. The area has a lot of wildlife and the multitude of hiking, biking and off-road driving (slow) trails make it a very accessible area.
If you do select a "horse friendly" site, be careful not to step in any horse piles. Ticks also seemed to be really bad this year, so keep an eye out for you and your furry friends.

The roads into the campground are dirt/gravel and mildly washboarded, but it's not too far so you can just go slow and it's all good.
The cell service wasn't ideal but it was enough for me to use my hotspot with AT&T and get some work done.
There are outhouses and water available here although I didn't use either.
It looks like they are proposing to start charging a $10 fee in 2020.

Shore Nanny is right - the Google directions will take you right past someone's front yard way out in the middle of a farm - it happened to me and fortunately I didn't disturb anyone.

Lots of trees and felt private. 2-3 pull thru spots. Did not checkout the toilets. Close to trails and lots of wildlife viewing. Google maps took us through what looked like someone's yard to get there, but continue down the easy dirt roads, thru the fields. It's worth it.
