Enjoyed the stay here and had a nice lake view. The park is well maintained and had a nice paved walking trail. Electric and water at sites and cell phone service worked without issues.

Our favorite thing about this park is the 2.8 miles of paved trail! Very rare at a state park. They also have a great “beach” area with a swimming area. Beautiful sunsets and fall foliage. The staff was great- there was a water leak in our area and they made sure we knew way ahead of time to fill our fresh tank before they turned off the water! Highly recommend this place!

I would have stayed here longer if we didn't have reservations at another State park. Ray Roberts Lake is HUGE! The hiking/walking paths are all paved. Beautiful area.
Got to watch the kite surfers one day while we were there. That was fun, will share a few pictures in the photo section.

There are two units on Lake Ray Roberts - Johnson Branch and Isle Du Bois. Both are great...but...if you're coming from the Dallas area, the 20 or so extra miles are worth it to go past Isle Du Bois and get to Johnson Branch. Johnson Branch tends to be quieter and more laid back than Isle Du Bois, but you're not going to go wrong with either. We've never had a bad experience with the park rangers at either location, because they tend to be laid back and friendly.

The lake is huge as can easily been seen on Google Maps.
The park has concrete paths for bicycles or walking.
The park has a designated swimming area with a sandy beach.
The park has several children playgrounds.
The restrooms and showers were very clean.

The lake is pretty and the sites are generously laid out. We were there during a controlled burn that filled the afternoon air with smoke. We were told about the burn but were reassured that it would not be a problem. We walked down to the lake and saw extensive shoreline damage. It looked like feral hog damage. Great, we're going to be eaten by wild pigs. We camped Jan. 25, 2018 in a 25' travel trailer.

Easy access to the water made for lots of fishing and relaxing! I landed several bass that were well over 5lbs!
The sites are all wide and well laid out, some better than others. The facilities are well maintained and were always clean.
The best feature of this park, for me, is the very wide concrete hike and bike paths that are perfect for riding my high speed mobility scooter! I have posted several videos of my Johnson Branch adventure on my YT channel and they cam be seen here...
