My husband and I decided, spur of the moment, to take off on our maiden voyage in our newly renovated RV, Piper! We knew we did not want to go too far from home, but we wanted to go somewhere that was out of the way at the same time!
After some quick research, we decided on Big Bear Family Campground. While we were not given an option of spots, and initially not very pleased with the spot, we quickly knew, it was the perfect spot for us.
The office/camp store was nicely stocked with most things you might need (or forgot in our case!). They also offer bundles of wood for purchase to use for your campfire.
Our spot was located in an area with no trees and lots of other campers. It was quite obvious the majority of folks are long term stays.
The neighbors were quick to come by - kids, dogs and all - made lots of friends! We took a long walk with our dogs around the campground, by the lake and through the wooded tent sites. It is truly lovely.
Our cousins, that live about 10 miles away on their farm, decided to come stay 2 nights with us....come to find out, they lived there in their RV for about 4 months while their house was being built! We had a big group of the long term folks come and we had a big fire, adult beverages and lots of laughs!!
I highly recommend, especially if you have kiddos. There are so many children and they are most welcoming to others, including adults, and they are sweet. Big Bear has a pool, lake and playground - kiddos will love it, especially in the warmer months!
The bathrooms / laundry facility SUPER CLEAN!!
We were provided water, sewer and electric hook ups.
They offer both 50 and 30 amp service.
Picnic table and fire ring provided
grass site
dumpster for bagged trash
pets allowed (we have 4 dogs)
Thanks for the great time on our maiden voyage in Piper!!
RoamingRangels would stay here again
