Is there potable water available at the dump station? We are staying in an electric only site.

Right on the St Louis River with a well maintained gravel hiking trail and observation deck to watch the wildlife and sunsets. Outer perimeter preferred over inner circle due to site size and privacy.

This campground is close to Duluth and while it is grassy with trees around the perimeter, it has some of the worst characteristics of unpleasant private RV parks. Sites inside the loop are basically a parking lot with no vegetation or privacy, and because there is no delineation of sites people really crowd into each other. We had a site on the outside of the loop and that's the only reason this place was somewhat tolerable. The dump station is situated backwards (it's set up for people to dump on the way in??) and it's in the main travel lane, creating big traffic jams when people are trying to leave. There are tent sites all around the bathhouse, making it awkward to use because it feels like intruding on others' sites.
Pros:
- Proximity to Duluth (15 minutes to Canal Park) and plenty of gas/groceries/etc nearby.
- Surrounded by trees that block urban views.
- Easy access to the Western Waterfront walking trail (about 3 miles long) and the Munger bike trail.
- Bathhouse is in good shape and was clean, but undersized considering the number of tent campers. Some of the showers were inexplicably locked and off limits during the week.
- Camp store seems to be well stocked (though it's easy to get supplies right outside the campground) and staff are friendly.
Cons:
-Poorly laid out sites are on top of each other; no site separation
-Campers tended to be respectful but we still had neighbors inches outside our windows
-Shared utilities
-Poorly groomed sites. We were told to keep our trailer wheels on gravel, but the pad was not really wide enough to accommodate a normal width trailer.
-Poor traffic flow around checkin area and dump station
If we were to visit the area again, we would stay at Pattison State Park and drive the 20 miles to sight see in Duluth. The state park campground is cheaper and nicer.

We booked a full-hook-up campsite here and were assigned site 3 on arrival. We paid the weekly rate. The site was a bit tricky to get into due to the placement of the power box and tree overhang, but it was doable with caution.
The electric and electric/water sites tend to be a bit more spacious and natural than the full-hook-up sites, which are close together and jumbled towards the entrance of the park. Some of the power pedestals are on the wrong side of the rig for the full-hook-up sites, so be prepared with an extra hose and possibly an electric cord extension.
Bathrooms and showers are available, although we did not use them so no report there. There is a dump station available for free use for those who have booked a night, or for a fee to those who just want to use the dump station. Potable water is available near the dump station. There is a general store, firewood for sale, and boat (canoe/kayak) rentals.
This park is very quiet at night. Verizon is very good.

Also, we chose this park as we needed to wash clothes, but as of 9-26-21, their machines were down and we had to go into town to a laundromat.
The CG is tree lined, and scenic, although the middle is largely grassy and treeless. Our site was level but was rather short, and we were barely able to keep the camper on packed gravel and park the truck in our space - although we have a very big camper/truck combo. The other small negative was that our site was lacking grass around part of the pad, so we and our dogs tracked a bit of mud into the camper. We will be mopping the floor before hitting the road.

Campground has a large shower area with bathroom. Other bathrooms available too. Laundry has three washers, only one dryer worked. Economically priced.
Campground store for a few trinkets, etc. Friendly staff. Good water pressure and pretty good cell.
Dump station.
Close by to Gary New Duluth for breakfast (Trophy Cafe). Big shopping in Superior. Ask for the back road way (McCune Rd) to get there.
If you like biking go here. On mile 8 or 9 on state trail there is the Buffalo Cafe. Awesome.

In a nutshell can’t complain, and would stay again if in Duluth. All the listed amenities are here as promised but they are tired and need TLC except the restrooms and laundry. At the prices charged some fresh gravel where appropriate to improve drainage, mowing grass more frequently including actually trimming, and straightening the utility posts would give it all a better feel. The rate shown is for full hookups.
None of the sites have a water view as best we could determine. Some sites have shade. It was a pleasant environment to sit with friends.
We’re traveling with friends and had to pressure a bit to get the adjoining sites we were promised when we made reservations in January. Ours was a quiet mid week stay. Little to no traffic noise. An occasional train horn in the distance.
Note that of the over 70 sites advertised only 7 are full hookups. The rest are about equally divided between water/electric, electric only, and no service tent sites.
Sweetly Home would stay here again

We enjoyed walks around the campground as well as along the trail along the bay with several docks to go out on. We were across the street from the zoo and a 10 minute drive to the railroad museum, children's museum, and Canal Park where the ships enter/exit the bay.
Make sure to review your map before arriving. Depending on which direction you're coming from there isn't an exit for the highway the campground is on.
We would definitely consider staying here again on another trip to Duluth. We stayed here in a 30 ft travel trailer.

Very open, little privacy, so not really our style of camping. The showers had no water pressure and were very cramped.
